Thanks, anon! I did put some mountains and clouds in the background, but they were too much to the sides and ended up not showing in the pic. Also, his belly is not transparent but Kaonashi was definitely an inspiration, although subconscious, for his design (I actually had Grim from Billy & Mandy as a main influence). Sick work, btw.

It’s actually a bic pen I use to sketch with, and yeah I know it makes things look a bit messier, I’m just not confident enough to draw with only the pen but also don’t want to use a pencil and lean on it, but I might just fold and use a pencil anyways for the next one just so things are a lot cleaner

Didn't have much time, so I went with a VERY THICK brush and 0-100 thickness variation, which heavily limited how much I could sperg out over details.

For anyone fretting over or starting to lag behing/fall apart, always rember:
You should be having fun, with a mild, tolerable level of stress (eustress) to keep things interesting and stimulating.
Don't try to shit out a masterpiece every day, accept the fact you're gonna fail here and there. Treasure is not only in successful pieces.

There's nothing wrong with using a pencil to sketch first. What do you think everybody else does? Besides freaks like KJG. If you want to do clean work with only pens I'd say for now practice that on the side. Because with your bic it just looks like pencils. Like do some free drawing and the occasional croquis cafe, maybe copying some drawings from an artbook, Alphonso Dunn's workbook exercises etc. all in straight up ink confidently, don't have to show anybody

Or it can mean the dog. Bit basic but others have pulled it off well. You don't have to draw like a portrait of a husky... you can incorporate the dog in the piece.

You could draw a singer, somebody smoking or in a smoky cafe, a masculine man, an erotic scene or just a pinup of a woman close to the viewer/giving bedroom eyes, two animals where one peeps and one grumbles, a noir looking shot of a detective, a rough looking traveler, an old hag, a hairy troll etc.

It's ok if not every inktober comes out good, or even if most of them are bad. It's a marathon, not a sprint. You're bound to stumble if you try to put out 31 complete drawings in an unfamiliar medium in one month. Take it as a learning experience, or something to have fun with. can anyone help me here? I want to buy a brush for inking and I've been told that Winsor & Newton series 7 or the Raphael 8404, both #2 and #3.
they're pretty pricey and I don't want to fuck them up early on. which one would you recommend and how do you actually clean them? how long will they last more or less, if I am taking good care of them? when I swirl them around in the water, am I allowed to press the brush against the glass, or would that ruin the brush?

Totally feel you, that's my curse. I always feel like I need an entire PhD. in whatever field I'm interested in illustrating before putting the pencil down.
Most artists fake it till they make it, so copy pictures and go with what you know UNLESS you have a lot of free time to spare.
Since you're set on telling a story, the story takes priority over architectural originality.

That's a bad pose for the muscle girl. The most in your face feature on the page is giant boobs. You can't see most of the arms. The abs is partially hidden due to angle. Basically you have only the legs to showcase muscles and then wraps on them are kind of loose and hide even par of that.

I might go further with the red but so far I'm about 12 hrs altogether, maybe more, did it over two days.

I used Pencil since this was a doodle at work on the back of some paperwork lol, then i've been using this fountain pen for the last couple of weeks, always giving me way better lines than the micron fine liner i was using, also tried to use some brush but i always seem to get carried away with it. then i was scared that all the darks would make some things hard to read so i had to bring in the 30% copic to be my graytone.

Massive catching up to do.
