What kyle's coloring lacks the most is pic attached.
His forms and shading are pretty realistic, but then he stumbles into uncanny valley because he doesn't push the hues enough.
It's the same with his face stylization. The bodies are drawn semi-realistically, while the faces are very stylized and anime-ish, which creates a disconnect and very uncanny feeling.

On his particular piece I think you went in a bit too hard on the the dark spots of the AO where it clashes with the lineart, more slightly lighter midtones in the dark areas will help with that.

Otherwise you could vary the green of the dragon more. For example giving her more reddish colors could vary up the body. Reddish is subjective in this sense, what I mean is that colors appear differently based on the context/surroundings around them. In order to have the green appear to have reddish we can simply use the magic of digital tech and move the color wheel towards the red areas into the yellow-green and and yellower areas. And it will appear like she has a reddish blush and the places here she is groped. You could pick color manually or use the Overlay layer setting and use a weak red on it. (I did that one most of the body where I changed it) But do not go overboard with because it pops out a lot so keep it light!

Another thing I would change is to make her expression softer and more sensual to show more emotions, I also added her hand on the head of the guy to show that she is inviting him openly. These small things can change a lot about the entire feel of the picture. I also removed the lineart from the boobgrope area to make it look softer.

As usual keep practicing your anatomy you will improve further!

I tried overpainting it again while following your advice but I found myself constantly looking at yours instead of thinking about what to do. I don't think I know what I'm doing so I'll probably either scrap this or come back to it later. I'm always scared of overpainting some particular detail that looks good or changing something for the worse, so my attempts are often underwhelming.

Do you use pen pressure for opacity/density? I find that having it on makes for some ugly semi-transparent brushstrokes when I'm trying to add some extra mass outside of the lines, or it just looks blurry. Using a brush with 100% density is annoying as well though, since you really have to be careful with the colors you pick or a stroke you make will end up looking out of place.

I do use density pressure both on airbrush and the square brush I think it was you that I showed my brush settings on the Towergirls dragon yuri image but could be wrong. If I am wrong I can repost it for you. You are right one needs to practice with using pen pressure to utilize it fully. It can be some ugly brushstrokes, you could try pressing lightly or fiddling with the Anti aliasing to achieve desired result.

I totally feel that feeling of overpainting some details, that is a constant feeling once one is doing the fine details, one get unsure. Just use layers to create different versions over the old then take a break and and come to see which is better.

Do not worry just practice more pay attention on the edge hardness and you will get the hang of it eventually.

You're implying I knew she was a character from some obsolete series, and according to you, the majority of people look like frogs.
