Taking time off is good, but burnout is one of those "you don't know it till you have it" type things so a lot of beginer artists thing being frustrated with art is burnout that requiring a day off and self care while what they probally need is just a 10 minite breather.

The biggest and most destructive lie of them all:
Beauty is subjective

>> No.4121946

>>4121794
For the contradictory unproductive thing it isn't crabby, it's real and doesn't just apply to art or productivity. It's a ploy to make them appear better than what they let themselves on to be so they feel good about themselves. A kid I knew in HS did this for his grades treating B's as F's nonchalantly almost smug. He used it to boost himself whenever the rare chance he had something that just wasn't an A+ towards anyone who'd think a B-A as fairly good enough. He never broke down over it, was an overachiever, or had parents that beat him over grades.

You got it wrong, anon. "I am talented" is the self-limiting one.

me rn, its so hard to not believe this when everyone that says this start when they were young. ive yet to see some great art of people that started when they were like 25-30

>> No.4126936

if you look at any motivational article like "great artists who started late", it's all abstract artists and Van Gogh kek
you can make impressive work if you start late but all the cases I've seen used photobash and 3D, I think to gain fundamental drawing skills you need to start early, it's too much mileage otherwise. And I think talent matters too since some people just have a better grasp of volume.

That's pretty legitimate IMO
I mean, if there's nothing you want to draw, then there's nothing you want to draw. You should look for something of course, because you want to be drawing, but sometimes you might not have anything to express. And if you're drawing something without any kind of self expression, then would you even bother calling that art?

There's two sides to that.
>"I'm not talented, so what's the point if I can't make great work?"
>hide away and give up
>"Talent is cheap, so it doesn't matter if I have it or don't. You can only make great work through great sacrifice."
>stay optimistic and maintain a growth mindset
You shouldn't think of yourself as not being talented so you'll work harder, because you'll acquire the skills you want, but there'll always be a cloud of doubt over you that you're just pretending, and you never know when the pressure will get to you everything will collapse. Instead, believe the truth; everyone has some sort of advantage when they enter art, and while some people progress faster and earlier than others, any given individual's path is wildly different than another, and as long as they stay persistent and keep making work, they're on the right track and that's fulfilling enough. As long as you still know what you like and don't like, and you firmly believe how you are now isn't forever and can change, you'll make it with a little sweat, blood, and tears.
