I feel that women are usually considered more infantile and inane. Yes they get more slack but it costs in overall less respect. While guys who don't have their shit together will be less respected than female counterpart, imo there's no way a successful woman will be as respected and considered powerful as a fulfilled man. I think though that most of posters are from USA and it all comes down to female to male ratio and their women are entitled, while in example Russia has much more women than men and this situation men are entitled.

I am a femanon, I don't draw myself often, only times been for school projects, do to how much I hate myself and low self esteem. But when it comes to self portraits I try to draw myself uglier, because I wanted to show as a person I don't really matter nor should my looks matter. But there is a lot more pressure to be pretty or at least presentable. I never cared about my apperance and tend to act very androgynous. Being mistaken for a boy both in irl and online a few times before. There is some back lash when you are a female and you never dress nicely or style your hair. The comments I've received has mostly come from other women, but it does show that there are standards in place on how women should look and act in society. Some places are more vocal about it then others but even where the places are more lenient I still feel a bit of that stereotyping pressure. Especially with the internet, fashion models and influencers being a thing, I feel like this is creating more pressure in society to look beautiful.

But it's a self portrait I don't feel it need to be a 100% accurate. It's better when it shows how the artist really feels about themselves. And who cares if they don't draw every flaw.

Personally, I don't like the stupid self-deprecating or "ironic" portraits that many guys (and a few girls) do. Whenever I see them I just think that the person who draws themself like that would be very unpleasant to spend time with. At least draw an actual caricature if you're so insecure, or draw yourself like you actually look. I don't like girls who draw themselves too idealized either, but imo it's better to draw yourself a bit prettier/more handsome than you really are, than ugly.

this isn't terrible, i like the line confidence and weight, but you need to check measurements more before laying down initial features. for example, when putting in the 2nd eye, imagine a horizontal line going from the top of left eye along to the right. see how that line doesn't even touch the right eye, it sort of goes above the eyelid, almost halfway to the eyebrow in fact.

you need to be really careful about how things align, both horizontally and vertically, really lay out the features and landmarks, before committing and drawing contours and worrying about your mark making. the first initial landmarks are the most important thing in every drawing. get them right the first time, take a bit longer than you think you need, and the drawing will be so much easier because of it.
