IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the /draw/thread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, or you literally are never going to make it

previous >>4080562

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead
2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

READ THE STICKY if you need guidance when you haven't even started.

TRY TO GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

This looks really beautiful and unique, but there's forms of errors that I see:

The eye being separated look a little off, as the nose seems very off places. The mouth looks very kitty-like instead of just bunny-like. He's a boy haha And the idea of iris colors and eye design seems a little different with what I'm going for. But I could learn to adapt if I were not going for anime-styles.

Shadings of the clothes, and the face seems to help for me though, though the question is how do I shade with, either Air Brush, "paint style", or any styles I want, as long as I use opacity?

Also, to the other anon, the colors is supposed to be wonderful or adorable, like Disney or Miyazaki.

Not the anon that redlined you but wtf man, don't get discouraged so easily that's a solid piece. You just needed to re-position literally 2 lines; the necklines. The head and body were in a correct enough position. Now you just start applying features and maybe even draw the background and color.
You seriously can't let yourself be stopped this early into a drawing or else you'll never start practicing the other stuff. For example that figure is decent, but maybe once you start trying to draw a face or clothes you find out you suck and start asking for tips here, that'd be helpful for your progress.

Of course this is not to say sometimes it's better to just scrap a drawing and start over something else, I literally just did that a few minutes ago. But that's because I didn't have a clear picture of what I wanted to do.
You drew a girl sitting on a ledge already so I'm guessing you have a picture in your mind of what you want to create, try to finish that.

One thing you can do is just look around you on the train. Look at something, like a doorway of the car, and think - "How would I paint that?" Same for anything you see outside the window.
A big part of being an artist is how you see the world, and always looking around you in terms of art. I see ideas, textures, colors, moods, etc. everyday, all day. I assume these aren't referenced.
Good job on trying to curve around the sphere but there's still symbol drawing going on. Get some references and give them a go - also handy because eyes come in all sortsa shapes. I think the 3/4 top right is the nicest.
Keep it up anon!

>>4085221
Pay more attention to the shapes and stick to reference more. Don't draw a line and consider it close enough - the minor inconsistencies pile up and you throw it way off. Check the forehead angle and the length of it, the angle where it meets bridge of the nose, the size of the nose & lips, mouth & eyes. Even the jaw line and cheek. Take your time, anon, compare features to other features to gather information about size & slow it down. Also where is your construction? A good start for this picture specifically is getting that forehead angle correct and the length right, from there the rest flows (1/3rds all the way down). Get that angle - make it a long line right down the face. Find your thirds, then bridge to the nose, and to the chin, maintaining that angle of the face that slopes backwards. As you can see the forehead lines up with the tip of the nose, but does not in your drawing.
Keep it up friendo, maybe try save the rendering til your linework is properly done, and if you're insistent on getting it down use simple shapes (that don't even need to be filled it) just to guide.

Hi, cutie. Ignore the other retards in this thread. Two words for you: gradient maps. Trust me.
Make new layers for things like hair, skin, clothing, etc. Create a solid shape for each of them, then apply a gradient map to each of them. The fun about gradient maps is you can add as many hues as you want, and they'll find a "target" in your b/w drawing. Then, just mess around with them until you find the piece seems unified, colorwise. Then make as many new layers as you want and paint on top of it.

You want multiple washes to build up that colour, also helps create form and shape this way. Let it dry a little, wash, dry, wash, pull shapes as you go.
It can be tedious especially when you're new but boy is it fun!

1. The right leg can't go out that far
2. Clean up the drawing. It's real hard to tell if a figure is out of perspective if they are just a stick figure. At least clean up the legs and feet to see if they are planted.
3. The figure isn't balanced. The feet are too far in front of the figure
4. The squatting position isnt' right. The legs should really be more compressed together if the figure is resting on their legs.
5. The fence is ruining the perspective. It's so weird to look at it straight on.

So after struggling with anatomy/complex posing from imagination I've come to the conclusion that the only way to really draw figures accurately is to study the skeleton bit by bit until you can draw the important bones from most angles, then learn the muscles, then apply that knowledge to your figures. Problem with learning this is, there's not a lot of good references for bones at different angles/with full range of movement.

Anybody got some good skeleton poses/references?

Having finished Huston's head construction course and spent a few weeks drawing nothing but heads, I've finally mustered the courage to start his figure drawing course.

This is the first assignment and my first real attempt at drawing figures.

5 minutes each.

I know I'm at the very start and therefore everything I've done is shit. But if y'all could point out some things that I've done absolutely horribly then I can keep them in mind when I reach that segment of the course.

I am also aware that I'm horribly unsure of every line I put on the paper in this assignment. I'm pretty sure that'll pass though.

Thanks anons.

I mean whatever stylization you'd want to pick up (aside from perhaps high abstraction) is going to be a spin on reality so if you wan't any real succes your kind stuck drawing from real life for a considerable period of time.
If your not willing to do that I would argue your time is better spend learning a different skill you're more passionate about.

Why don't you tear into my shit right away? Isn't that the point?
Why do people keep threatening critique instead of actually saying it?

Why do people act like everything I post on here is everything I ever draw when it's simply the least shit things I have? I'm not going to spam the board with shit people can't even begin to critique because they lack everything.

And what do you even mean when you keep saying that you've tried helping in the past? If you're anyone that said I should try something different as practice then I am already doing that.

I've already reflected on what I do multiple times and it's pretty apparent to me that I am not improving as much as I should be despite "trying something different", we don't need to make that obvious for a third time.

Bottom line, I draw and post what I like. And just for good measure I'll post another shitty waifu OC drawing next time before returning to real life studies.

you sploch the color down in one spot, let it set for a few seconds the spread it out in all direction to fill in the area evenly. you don't want to pull around a wet brush. leaves things uneven.

well you can get a wacom intuos pro and if you are going fir other brands the x-pen's pen seems to be as accurate as the wacom and the durability of the tablet too, i dont have one tho, you can always make a thread to ask for recommendations, but the most important thing is to have a pen that is as accurate/sensitive as possible.

as for drawing, getting good at those aspects isn't actually hard but requires a fucking lot of studying and practice and here's where 90% of beginners fail because they either half ass the studies or they dont do it at all , if you want to get good be ready for a grindfest of boxes/shapes/references for months and thats what kills the begs doing this shit kills the motivation ofmany begs

And if you decided to start, go first with drawabox, com this shit will help you to see everything in 3d rather than 2d that is main problem with beginners then you can go with anatomy for sculptors or Hampton figure drawing then you move to perspective shit from there is just polishing

look up a photo of someone squating, a slave squatter usually has their ass down near the ground. The gate is in the same perspective as the ground lines going right, so it should follow them, it's not receding in space correctly.
Changed the legs/feet on the left guy, just felt like the other one was awkward. Matched head perspectives, guy on the right was too high up. A lot of this perspective stuff might go over your head, I recommend spending a couple weeks reading some beginner perspective books, that should be all you need. Overall I like the scene setup, the silhouettes are cool and expressive.

It's alright to color btw, but don't focus on the short term. Short-term feedback for that immediate piece is almost never going to be that helpful. I'm just telling you what direction you should take your studies in.

I'm a horrible beg, but wouldn't the dome have to be square on the bottom if it's attached to a square block? Like, it looks weird because there's no indication of it being chamfered and transitioning into a ball but also no indication of it being an oval? I hope you get what I mean or maybe it's a non-issue. Also the angles are slightly dramatic in the bottom left.

Makes sense, I didn't really try with the dome-brain.
Are the angles at least good, if extreme?

I'm too beg to judge, only the bottom left one that looks really weird and stands out. not even the wire seems to be centered.

does anyone know how to make text bend like this?

You want your the legs in a wider stance. With right leg going back more and left leg bending a little. So that the whole pose won't look so unbalanced.

Also your arms is completely screwed on the right. She is keeping the guy before her but foreshortening and overlap imply that her left arm goes almost straight left. And right shoulder is all kinds of fucked up - just get a ref and redo it from zero.

Slav squat yourself, the hips look nothing like that, the butt is close to the floor and the hips are facing upward. Once you start doing poses yourself you'll really get to see how they work

Stop baiting - you're obvs here forever... the pose is weird and the proportions are all extremely off... what even is he doing. And why are his hand hooves?

Look at anatomy for sculports or Michael Hampton's design and Invention. Also draw more from reference /real life.

I've been getting friends to send me hands, and then I draw them, because my hands need to get better before I can simplify them with any level of honesty. Input? Critique?

I'd say in incorporate more contour lines to explain the volume and directions of your figures. How many figures have you drawn so far?

Thi she time I tried to make it look the they're actually Slav squatting and tried to give the girl in the foreground some muscles, though I think I fudged up the muscles and her elbow

I tried to lower one off the characters like anon said and slightly changed the silohette girl on the right's feet

I feel like there might be something off with the perspective and I can't tell what

How long have you been on this? It's time to let go and move on.

It's been about 17 days, since I either spent only a couple of minutes on it each day or not draw that day. I'll probably continue drawing it since I'm sorta having fun with it and I feel like it's about time I actually make something finished
