Best thing you can do is look for a board ( or make one ) on Pinterest. Use the DownAlbum extension instead of saving them individually, and import them all to PureRef. There are features to auto-arrange/optimize the images on there. If you prefer opening it in whatever program you're using, you can export the whole thing as one big image. Best of luck!

I think about that shit all the time.

Art as we study is basically visual science. Everything we take the time to study is related to either physics, mathematics or biology. The only part of art that is not a natural science is design, but even that is debatable due to it being the way we humans see the world.

If an artists is not dedicated enough to learn about the world around them, then they'll forever be stuck in /beg/ drawing icons. This makes art the best case of meritocracy we got, imo, since it praises knowledge of the world and its applications and social skills, both of which can be acquired. When I was in STEM there was a lot of blowing smoke up some egocentric PhD's ass just to be able to get into a project, but with art at a high level it's far easier to find people that are humble and will do their best to help you.

I like las/dad because it hold me accountable for drawing every day. I already draw pretty often, but the site forces me to make sure I'm drawing as often as I can! My streaks helps me make sure that I'm keeping up with drawing regularly, and looking through my submissions helps me see where my weak spots are, whether I've been keeping up with studies, and how my art is developing

The more I think about it the more I realize that making it is more a matter of attitude towards the subject than anything. I get really pissed at how people on this site make excuses not to draw instead of making excuses to draw, it's almost as if they didn't enjoy the process of drawing, as if they drew for praise and fame, so to see the final product. I'm getting that what makes crabs crabs is lack of love towards art. Envy is the tool of the weak, of those that want it all without doing it all, and that also seems to be rather recurrent here. Not liking one artist or another doesn't take away the merit of their knowledge, but I have yet to see people on /ic/ pulling out pieces to the level of Noah Bradley or Ruan Jia.

I think about this too, sometimes. When I compare myself to my favorite artists something I always notice is how much more they've drawn than me. They push themselves more, for every dynamic figure in perspective I've drawn they've drawn 10, for every shoddy half assed background I've made they've made 5 with tons of detail and perfect perspective. I can't comment yet but on the off chance Banana will read this - I think you should focus on doing individual characters (/dragons) right and try out the thing Sinix did, where you do a whole bunch of copies of artists you like and for every page of copies you try one from imagination. Probably more productive than grinding perspective so much. I've wasted my fair share of time on stupid exercises as well, done maybe hundreds of pages of crap gestures and shitty circle, ellipse and line exercises. At the end I still couldn't draw circles, ellipses and straight lines worth a shit. Something /ic/ doesn't often say, videos rarely say and books never say is that exercises like that are just a tiny supplement to doing finished copies of artists, drawings from life and drawings from imagination — which I consider the main exercises for gittin gud. For example if your gestures suck it might be more productive to do some slow finished drawings of human figures than to do another page of gesture practice — the quality of your gestures relies heavily on how well you understand the human form and all that. I used to think that I should get the first stage of a drawing right before I practice the later stages but after having wasted years by not drawing much and doing dumb exercises when I did draw, I've realized this year that you actually /need/ to practice the later stages of drawing to get good at the early ones. Take all this with a grain of salt because I still suck dick but I suck a lot less dick than I used to.

I've seen some art videos from good painters recently where they didn't draw good circles and ellipses in one go either, so turns out it wasn't even important.

I'm not that anon, but I've been thinking about making a medical or biological illustration portfolio to see if I can get a job in the field, sounds comfy and pretty niche. There's also some cool jobs in museums for paining and illustrating historical events and animals, which I think would be STEM since paleontology and archeology are natural sciences.

Which begs the question, what are the other STEM + art careers? There are some CG artists that work for Nasa doing renders of space phenomena and people that make CG documentaries for NatGeo, but other than the ones I mentioned I can't really think of an actual STEM + art career.

Im my opinion starting art is like a hill you have to force yourself to climb, but it get easier and more fun when you actually start understand the fundamentals and whatnot.
