What OP here is trying to say is that he does not have much money, and, get this, he wants to acquire some. So, sure, he could work at Walmart, or he could draw some DND characters, but this whacky OP heard that furry commissions are a savory and lucrative business idea!

OP you have been lied to. Furries don't make a lot of money. Only the ones at the tippity top do. The ones with a passion for it.
4chan fell for what is known as the Apex Fallacy. Meaning they only look at the successes of the top. The reality is that many furry artists make less than min wage.Just go on a furry site and look at the average commission sheet. They aren't making any money.

they do pay top money, and they are freakinf supportive towards your art, once a user donated me 200 dollaroonies just because he liked my stuff, it was a happy day, it just happened me once but still I get smalled donations (through ko-fi), the thing is finding artist is hard, finding competent artist is even harder, and finding competent artist that do weird kinks is almost a miracle.

Same. I have a somewhat large following in the fandom and my stuff is pretty sought after. Commissions of people's shitty (or in best case boring) fursonas makes me wanna die every time. I could be rolling in dosh if I did them all the time but I. Just. Can't.

I'm building a portfolio and seeking a studio job. Doing furry commissions seems like easy money at first but trust me it can become a curse.

Still love drawing anthros for fun though. So yeah EVEN IF you really enjoy painting furries, you could still end up hating your life. Give it a shot though. Make some money and shut it down if the sparkledogs start getting to you.
