Personally, I think the pose is kinda stiff/flat somehow, despite the fact I started off with a gesture line (erased now, obviously), and the hands seem a bit off somehow.

Yeah, I've been doing some studies of more muscular MMA types lately to try and improve my anatomy and understanding of muscle. I need to break out of my comfort zone more often, but I draw mostly for fun and relaxation so I default to my favorite body type too often.

I would keep doing paintings, i really enjoy them. I feel like you need to study textures more, as everything has a kind of plastic-y feel though, like the foliage and tree in the frog boy piece. Colors are your strong suit, imo, but I feel like your shading can let your pieces down. Maybe study some other artists painterly shading and draw backgrounds from real life while focusing on texture and brushstrokes rather than blending. The dragon piece works especially well because the colors are flat, I think.

Also I edited the pic crabanon posted to look better since I don’t think it’s an issue with your style but rather the execution- the neck was wonky, eyes weren’t the same size, etc. I’m bad at explaining things so hopefully my visuals work better than words.

Texture is definitely an areas I'm weak in, I've been cheating it a lot with stylization but I'll try to confront it more in the future.
Shading is a weird area for me, but I think I will try to look into more painterly styles like you said. I don't have a lot of stylistic direction with painting because all my favorite artists mainly do cel-shading, but I'll try to figure out a clearer path from here.

Yeah, that is something I've noticed in my stuff too, and I've been trying to work on. I feel my faces often end up looking long because I draw vertically long eyes, so I've been trying to rethink the way I do facial proportions without changing the eye shape too much. Still haven't found a solution I'm satisfied with, though.

I basically exclusively use a round brush that i flatten a bit. Opacity changes with pressure, but it's fixed size, fixed angle, and with hotkeys to rotate the brush.

You draw the features too large I think. If you go for very large eyes like manga you should shrink the mouth and especially the nose. What fixed it for me and got me to a satisfying solution was looking at Milt Kahl (but I draw furry so YMMV)

my only real criticism is for graphical work like this, you really need to take more care with designing your edges. the lost edge between the dragon's wing and torso just feels kind of sloppy right now & isn't nice to look at and this is also a problem b/c it's such a high point of contrast that the eye is drawn to that right away. hiro isono & eyvind earle are maybe worth studying. also try to get away from tube tree syndrome. if it's possible where you live, try to go sketching out in the woods. trees and folliage pretty much give you unlimited potential for composition & shape design. i really like these overall, you have a good sense for making appealing drawings that are nice to look at & frogboi is very qt

I really like this desu. You need to work on your shading, since everything else is incredibly interesting. I love those hands, the mood of the character and the background especially. Overall I think it's very solid. The hair is beautifully done.
I feel some of the brighter, more saturated shading tones don't quite mesh with the palette, especially the patches of bright lavender shading on the right forearm and far thigh, but you could attribute that to personal aesthetics.

I think the lines are too thick. I don't know if you're using a brush with no AA or you're scanning binarized inks, but if you use no AA you should have a higher base res. If you export the image and you can see the jagged pixels you're working too small. If your computer can't handle high res canvases then use antialias

I don't know what you are doing but the further you move from the sketch the more stiff and lifeless your art feels. Like the sketches are good and even dynamic. Then you add this precise clean lineart of yours. It feels very clinical and lifeless. And colouring somehow works like a final nail in the coffin.

One thing I like doing sometimes to make the shadows more saturated is duplicating the shadow layer and set it at 50% multiply 50% normal. Depending on where you place the line layer you might have it affect the lines and it can look nice
But I'm terrible at digital art so take this with a grain of salt

I don't know if you use CSP but in that case you can set up an autoaction to create a value check layer. You turn the layer on / off to see the image in greyscale.

If you don't use autoactions just go on Layer > new correction layer > hue saturation etc.
and set saturation to -100
