FFS, learn some color theory.

As form turns away from light, the color change happens in all 3 dimensions of color: Hue, Value, and Chroma. As more white is added to a color, and there's always some white added to the color of the object since you can only perceive things when they are in light, there's a change in chroma and value. You can't add more white(or whatever the color of your light source is) and not have it affect the chroma since the hue is diluted by the addition of a new color. Same with shadows, where instead of white you mix in black, therefore lowering chroma and value of your hue.


That's the very basics. It's a lot more complicated than this, but you'll have to hit the books cause I'm not explaining this shit to you.

Well what really worked for this picture you did >>4042204 was that you didn't over detail the face like you usually do. A lot of things you do over detail actually. It gives them an uncanny and grotesque look. I have no qualms with your style, but your over use of lines is your downfall.
Also make sure to double check your proportions and compare your anatomy (making sure the left and right foot are the same size for example)

Hey. I made an overpaint. You got potential, I just want to help push you. I agree with what other people are saying, you tend to over detail too much and add high contrast evenly everywhere. Nothing wrong with rendering, but you can't hide mistakes with detail. I fixed some proportional issues, added points of interest in certain areas (composition by changing the arm and squeezing tits, and differentiating the eye from the face by replacing blue with yellow/gold)

I would say in your case, focus less on detail, because you can paint fine now. I would worry more about propotion and shape varaition, composition, gesture and storytelling (what -is going on, why -are they doing that, who -is that).

Theres many ways of doing the same thing, buddy, and regarding the proportions, nothing is different between what you did and what I did. There was obviously no missing pelvis though. The only difference is that I ended up thinning out the frame of the hips since I scaled down the entire lower mass, though I admittedly scaled it down too much. I also purposefully shortened the legs since the character is young.

No? I made sure to overlay what I was working with and corrected the stiff poses and arms with proper construction. Believe it or not, wrists are thinner than the upper forearm.

Well since you now have the anatomy I drew available to you, perhaps you can correct my mistake? I'd like to see you make the feet stay in the same position as the original drawing without breaking the bones and pose. Nothing wrong with a little perspective and flow adjustment to make things a little more attractive.

I thinned the rib cage and waist because is wasn't sound and proportional with the rest of the body, but this doesn't make it longer as it still has the same length in proportion to the rest of the body.

The changes I made are simpler than readjusting everything you said to do because it doesn't affect the overall size of the character. It keeps the same space the original was working with while making things much more pleasing to look at.
