Note I said "for me".

Asking for advice here.

I kinda like the free books and video courses. But I will be honest I'm the type of person that is easy to troll and waste a lot of time debating. I know someone will use this against me in the comments but whatever.

>>4027629 People say it's best to just take the resources and leave.

Is there anything worth the risk of staying? Is it worth the risk posting work and get criticism?

He's absolutely right, I only use this site when it's impossible for me to do amything productive (e.g. shitting, stuck in traffic jam).

Getting good requires a lot of time and 4chan sucks up a lot, do not return until you think you have reached a level that you are comfortable with and only return when you want hard critiques like once every week/month.

read this thread for a non manichean opinion, lot of insights
If I were easily baited I wouldn't spend time on 4chan at all if I have anything else to do and long term goal, yes. though, I think it's good to lurk /ic/ especially if you're a beg and you have literally 0 idea what you're getting into

Acknowledge why you come to /ic/, don't pretend it counts as studying. Don't come everyday. Pin every thread relevant to your interest. Hide the rest. Don't waste time on dumb threads, even if you like arguing there are better places to do that. Lurk moar and post only when needed.

I come here to shitpost is I have no social interaction. It keeps me going in a way. I don't know about the rest of these tryhards telling you to run away from here. Just coldturkey this site when you need shit done.

Hide every thread that isn't a resource thread, and then filter out common bait terms like ngmi, crab, or kys.

Whenever I'm talking about the place on other boards I make sure to point out that you should avoid the non-general threads because the board is bitter and self-conscious, and both are contagious. An overarching goal helps with the mood.

4chan in general is also an addictive time sink. If you're not noticing either of these points then you should be good to stay, if you want.
