What does it mean to you to 'make it'?

Does 'it' mean making a shitload of money, or a fulfilling career, or just a life of drawing anime titties all day long?

>> No.4020257

I would like to do these things in my life
>get famous to the point of making some cash with my art. Not necessarily a living because I'm a programmer.
>make a comic
>become a concept artist for a cool videogame

whatever your definition of making it is.

However I think most probly refer to is getting to do what you love every day without having a second job.

And you could also argue that part of making it would mean not making degenerate/porn art, but a lot of people in here seems to think the opposite.

Its a personal thing, I'm sure you know but making it isn't just limited to art, its about spending your time the way you want before you die. Some people will want money so that they can live off their craft, others find the act of creation fulfilling in itself.

The other option is an hero.

for me it means to be able to create at least one piece of memorable art, just one, just one single picture that is able to steal someone else time, that has rythm, grace, beauty, inspiration, I dont give two shaits about money, anyways im quite the frugal dude, once I do my masterpic I will move to the pacific island to paint plaine air and farm like a faggot hippie.

>> No.4021675

In /ic/ I refer to "making it" as fulfilling one's art goals. When you're /beg/ you probably have some goal in mind like sustaining yourself for commissions, getting hired by a game or animation studio, reaching 100k followers or something like that. If you achieve that goal, that means you've made it.

>> No.4021736

>>4021693
I have no problem with wage cucking. But yes I meant to work as freelancer as I don't plan to move to Japan. I saw some freelance works of illustrators like Yu Cheng Hong, Jeremy Chong, Wanke... for Square Enix, so there're chances for gaijins, they just require very high skill.

>> No.4021760

>>4021736
Well that's making it then! For you at least. Unfortunately I don't think anyone here can get you a job at square enix. Maybe try gitting gud and building a portfolio tailored to the company's tastes?

Make enough money to make a living while drawing the things I love, which is almost impossible. It's already hard enough to make a living with art without any sort of integrity. For original content you need something like connections or you have to be a god tier artist which I am not and probably will never be.

>a life where I have enough money to live on my own

500 bucks or die? You could literally work any job for 10-15h a week to achieve that. It's laughable to kill yourself rather than work two days a week in an art unrelated field.

Yes, I'd say work two days a week and spend the other five building your portfolio/ doing commissions.

Money really isn't the main issue.
I'm currently spending less than 500 to live because i don't throw money at shit i don't need.
Also
>implying work is just, solely earning money
I'd need to fork out half my pay to even be able to go to work.
>It's just dumb to an hero for that petty sum
>Implying i'd an hero because of money
Then can everyone else on this planet an hero, please?
Honestly, all my problems derive from the existence of other people who cannot stop being faggots and suck dick all day

>> No.4023363

all I need is to able to make at least 12k a year and I can keep my head afloat, earning that much through freelance and commissions isn't unreasonable right
