Youtube is probably the most competitive platform ever to make it on and it takes a ton of time to edit videos. No thanks.

How good is your voice?

If you're a guy you're fucked unless your voice is decent, girls have an easier time.

Yes, I have, but not as my primary platform, just as an addition. There's a lot of stuff I think I could talk about, that I haven't seen covered anywhere else.

You're overthinking it. You don't have to compete with Draw with Jazza or RossDraws. Just build your own little platform for exposure, and an avenue for income for Gumroad and Patreon.

The only way to win the youtube race is to appeal to the lowest form of normies. And the lowest form of normies don't care a out actual skill, they care about copies, photorealistic copies and other copied trash with markers and whatever. You better aim for social platform more suited for illustrations like twitter or whatever.

The only consistent way to have success on YouTube is to do something nobody else does, and do it well. It doesn't have to be some groundbreaking thing, you can just combine X content with Y content putting a new spin on it, as long as there's nobody doing that already. I have 14K subs as of now, and got about 800K views from last year's videos. I don't do art though, I do gaming content for a niche game.

Ad revenue is absolute dogshit, do not do YouTube for money. Going by my own statistics, 1 million views = roughly 1000$.

Once I get enough money I might make an art channel so I can get a bunch of free sponsored art supplies and to be the first person to sing up for my free skillshare.
I want to start in the animation meme community, known for having notoriously low standards of whats good (even on dumblr levels), and move onto art commentary.

But the once niche I wanna get into is the more technical side of art reviews. Any basic bitch art review you find online go on about what happened in their week so far or what inspired them to draw their doodle they barely say anything on the technical specs of the product.

Not true at all. This "normies love photorealism" thing is getting out of hand. Do you know that some of the most popular art youtubers are Jazza, RossDraws, BayleeJay, etc? I'd say viewers don't care about quality at all. There's a thousand Chinese videos of photorealistic shit with no views. What rakes in numbers on Youtube is entertainment, shit like "I tried these 10 art hacks so you don't have to!" and "Painting with opposite hand challenge."

If you want to fix this problem you should try to transition to female. Don't take hormones, but just take a few voice feminization lessons. Most of your audince isnt to bright so they won't notice you're a man and if they do call yourself 'gay' or say you're a 'proud transwomen'. This scores you points with the rich liberals who'll be sure to fund your emergency go fund me.

Youtube seems too competitive and time-consuming. I've thought about doing Twitch when I get a better computer though. My current one can't handle screen recording while using Photoshop. I'm just pretty awkward at holding a conversation so I'm not sure what I'd talk about if nobody uses the chat feature.

Not that anon but people at this point expect you to have TV tier quality to even click on your channel. Most YouTubers worth talking about have at least a semi-professional mic and camera setup, not to mention all the preparation and editing and all that jazz. The only exception to this is if you're a celebrity like a manga artist then you can make a shitty stream with a webcam and get followers anyway.
And editing takes a TON of time, I posted a few videos and really basic editing took me half a day.

>> No.4004895

I've entertained the idea of simply recording myself and time lapsing it. It wouldn't be a commercial endeavor, just something to show to people curious about my process. Maybe their feedback could help me improve as well if they observe me making my mistakes.

What I truly meant was mastering the art of clickbait. What better way than doing a photorealistic drawing, upping the contrast x10 ?
I think Jazza is a big fraud, but I honestly respect what he's doing. He's a youtuber first and I can see why people like him. Not sure I can say the same about Prokucko though.
