/pol/ here. Is there such thing as good political art? I parasitically like the works of Alex Schaefer who does plein air paintings of burning banks.

Yes. For example alot of Soviet realistic art is/was really great and much of it was political.

How could there be good political art when good politics do not exist?

Fucking stupid question.

I don't usually like explicitly political art because it's too on the nose and not handled with grace. Reminds me of political cartoons in which everything is label and the piece isn't allowed to speak for itself. So for me, my problems lies less with the ideas and more with how they're implemented.

All art with a message or a sense of aesthetics is political, what you are calling "pollitical art" is just on the nose dumbed down political art.

That's the point of the question. Can politically charged art actually be enjoyed the way other art is? Or is it just like a forced meme, where you are supposed to agree with it. It doesn't really question your worldview but enforces it. Therefore its shitty. I believe that if you are going to do political art it needs to be done as subtle as possible.

No. Political “artists” aren’t artists, they’re zealots masking their proselytizing as a creative endeavor. And the idea that “aesthetics are inherently political” is an idiotic, self-affirming relativistic worldview that comes from the sort of person that defines and labels themself by their politics.
