Just found out mathias died. I used to participate in these threads a lot and we found each other through there and he helped me out with a lot of stuff. I'm not too good at words and an anonymous post on /ic/ years after the fact isn't much of a eulogy but I've been tearing up all morning and wanted to type something out.
Scrolling through his advice, his redlines, his words of encouragement and our casual conversation on discord is filling me with sadness. He was so friendly and helpful, he even redlined hideously degenerate porn commissions I was taking, which I appreciated to no end. Its not like we were best friends or anything, but he was already so much younger than me, and I thought I could spend many more years following his improvement, talking about how to improve, trying to match him. The idea that everythings he has produced is the end of it, and he's gone, is making me cry. I have thoughts I feel like I could form into something more metaphorical if I was better with words but I can't. It's just affecting me. I hope everyones doing ok today.

Painters lives are always really depressing even Picasso, who had money, beautiful women, fame and a long life still watched his sister die as a kid only to supposedly get the cure for her illness the next day.
