We met 18 ys ago in High school and noticed we all like art. Now we're still besties, have Art chats, meet to draw together, one is a hentai artist, another studied art, another had her own art course for a while... so we all chill and draw and enjoy being social (maiden of honor for each other and we had drawing games on our weddings).

I recommend going back in time and making friends.

Also still making new art friends - being an extroverted person sure is a nice thing.

Hard part about art friends is finding people which are open to critic, accept it and don't get butthurt or offended. But once you find those people it's the best.

I work in the animation industry and know a lot of people in it.

I tend to find other artists I meet hold their art too close to the heart and it'd be insensitive to just call out their flaws and tell them they're merely doodling while offering tips of my own as if I was better. People do not take well others acting like instructors when they think of themselves as decent enough.
But there's I can't count them as art friends when they just have it as a childhood hobby they still do sometimes.

And my real art friend turned out to be pretty autistic and with terminal depression so keeping up a relationship with her was impossible. This sucks.

At least that is my approach and it's nice when people first start recognizing you and giving you compliments.
