I can easily get thousands likes on Twitter or Insta, but can hardly get more than 100 notes on Tumblr, I think it's dead af.

The only reasons to use one is for a custom theme that none of the other sites let you have and for an art stash because Twitter can't be bothered to give an art tag to organize the 1000s of retweets and reaction images that the users feel the need to flood out their own content with.

Just use Weebly / Wix / Squarespace / etc.. They are infinitely better than using Tumblr for your main professional portfolio.

It's useless to get a following but still good to use as an archive, in case your or someone else needs to look at your drawings for reference

Totally acceptable to use the free ones. Though - IMO - squarespace had the nicest themes and layouts for art portfolios. However squarespacr is paid only, but it's definitely worth it.

I have the most follower count on Tumblr, but my average notes per post are much lower than on Instagram, where I have a third as many followers. People abandoned Tumblr after the porn ban, the userbase is just not there anymore.
