the main reason japanese guys are "beter" than americans or european at art have 2 reason

1. we are exposed to more stylized art from the beggining. is very uncomon to see american cartoons on tv in japan, so basically you consume anime from childhood, the same with mangas, they are cheap and there is always one for you to like. there are even mangas focused on learning to cook food so you get the idea.

2. is the way of learning, you draw no appealing man nude to "learn", we directly focus on appeal lines trying to draw cute girls. i saw a meme of "be able to draw this (a old man) to be able to draw this (a cute anime girl) and thats so wrong, you will stuck with the idea of "i need to draw realistic to be good" and when you draw a girl, you will focus more in "what is anatomy wrong" instead of "what will make this more appeal".

when we want draw a girl, we do it in anime style. go to twitter and the most sucefull jap artists just draw anime girls from games or shows because they dont have creative talent, they just copy some character and draw them again and again.

This hits the nail on the head. Honestly, the meme is not Loomis. The meme is the idea that you should become a perpetual Loomis machine for its own sake.

If you want to draw anime girls, you should do things that make you better at drawing anime girls. This includes anatomy and construction, so you should study anatomy and construction, and Loomis is a very good way to do this. But you should stop doing it the moment you hit diminishing returns and studying something else would give you more bang for your buck, bang being "the ability to draw anime girls" and buck being time investment. And people hit this limit far, far earlier than the "1500000 boxes" and "12 years of muscle studies" goals that /ic/ sets.

"I must make my art as accurate as possible, and it will become appealing in the process" is the wrong way to think for this kind of thing, "I must make my art as appealing as possible, and accuracy only matters as far as it helps in this goal" is the right way. This is why there are artists that are overwhelmingly popular despite being called shit on /ic/, and not without reason.

I used to be a Loomis hater too. Then I realized you don't need to read his text, just the instructions for the pictures. Also, Loomis isn't just for the "semi realistic 1950s uberchads", it works with any style as long as you deform it (which he also teaches how to do).

If you hated Loomis before, try again. It's really important for construction and gesture; Three days of grinding will take you far if you're /beg/. Just skip the text if you got no patience.

Hampton is good too, but the simpler construction in Loomis is geared towards drawing a lot of stylized figures in a short amount of time, compared to Hampton`s anatomy autism. It's always worth it to go back over one or the other.
