It has become painfully apparent to me that I lack any kind of talent and daily grinding is not producing the expected gains. I don't want to waste my life grinding for nothing. So I'm going to give up learning to draw but I'm not giving up drawing itself.

Now my focus will be producing results by any means necessary. Tracing, cheating, stealing, having a computer do it for me, etc I don't care I just want to produce good art and bring my ideas to life.

So what are the most helpful crutches a cheating artist can employ? I know about the "camera obscura" but that's not really relevant in this day and age.

I've been thinking about ways to cheat the process, OP. Here's what I come up with...but it will require you drawing from scratch in specific areas for reasons.

1. Learn to draw the head well from orthographic views only, including facial anatomy and structural differences.
Q: Why only orthographic views?
A: So you don't waste your time trying to master 900 different views of the head. This also applies to the body. Once you understand the basic views you can just use the 3D model as the crutch.
2. Use 3D model for the head and body. You can model your own heads to use if drawing portraits for any view and or just use fullbody. Use your knowledge to draw over.
3. Draw hands every single day. Raw hands from scratch with construction. This is something you can't just trace from a model. Head and hands. Everyday.
4. You need to know drapery. Tracing clothing will not help you. Master drapery and you're good to know for the rest of the cheating.
5. Learn Sketchup/Blender for modeling backgrounds and props.
6. Painting is something you still need to learn from scratch so you can't cheat out of this. Learn it.

There. I just saved you and anyone else who wants to cheat 10 plus years of frustration. You need to be really quick with placing 3D model in space and planning so I'd still do gestures every day for roughs.

tracing its a good way of practicing, but not of producing actual work. unless we are speaking tracing your own sketches to clean them or doing animation

>> No.3899837

photobashing
tracing photos of your own body
copying the styles of other artists

These are the easiest way to cheat
but don't bother, the less actual skill you have the harder it is to convincingly cheat

Grinding works, you’re just lazy. The crutch you need is modafinil.

>Best crutches
Getting rid of everything distracting in your life that is subconsciously causing you to worry.
That friend you haven't heard from in over two years yet you're constantly thinking how "I should call them"? Call them (or say fuck it and delete their phone number (they're a shitty friend anyway).
Those dozens of unfinished projects you've got sitting around? Take the time to complete them (or burn them to the ground, they weren't going anywhere anyway).
Not sure what to eat tonight? Do a fuck ton of slow cooking next weekend to cover for the next few days.
Apartment is a massive mess? Clean your room, bucko (or kindly ask your mom to come over and do it in exchange for something nice and appreciative).

Once you no longer have any loose ends in your life and can truly put away a whole day without anything being able to pester you, you'll be absolutely amazed at how calm and productive you will be able to feel. It's no coincidence that successful people who make it also happen have the rest of the shit in their lives together.

Photobashing. Sketchup. Literally tracing over photographs. Take lots of pictures and use them as a basis for your work. That way you don't have to worry about copyright infringement.

there are no crutches lol. Only reason people see it as crutches is because they have high ambitions when going in, then they decide later to become like sakimichan and just trace it all.
