-Many japanese artists live in Tokyo, which is a hub for many ateliers and art schools that they can attend for an affordable price.
-Alot still live at home with their parents so they don't have to pay bills, or rent and while they may still work they usually have a lot of free time to devote to drawing.

I dont know if he does, most concept artists do from time to time. but as far as i know there's nothing to suggest that he does. All i could find is an interview where someone asks what he thinks about it and he said he admires stuff more when it doesnt photobash but he understands why people do it.

I have a video of him doing a whole painting and he doesnt do any photobashing in that and it comes out incredible. He also does fineart/illustration in addition to his concepts that are great.

It sounds like you're under the impression that you cant do work that good without photobashing?
