Just download the masterful art you want. Trust me, you won't use those books for studying, skip the excuse and just download the stuff you want to learn with. Not to mention that it's really inconvenient to study with a book, it's far more comfortable to look at those pictures on a screen with quality of life features like zooming. You can even get ultra high resolution pieces which real books can never come close to. And there are also dreadful two page artworks, those two pagers where the middle of the book ruins the entire artwork.

The only legit reason to buy books is for decorative and collector purposes. You will skimp trough those pages every once in a while but they will mainly stay in your shelf. It's hard to recommend something because it's your taste, I don't know what you consider to be masterful art. If you want nice collections I can recommend the Spectrum artbooks. They release a new one every single year. It's a collection of high quality art from all kind of artists made that particular year and to my knowledge none of the books are scanned. They are high quality and they also release hard covers which you really want to have over softcovers.

>Not to mention that it's really inconvenient to study with a book
this is false for instructional books and images you can't find online (or the online images are poor repros). tons of pdfs are shitty scans or photos. books are well worth a physical investment for studying to some people. i retain much more from having a physical book in my hands as opposed to ebooks. i have less distraction and can take it with me anywhere. i don't have a tablet but i imagine it could be similar. physical book beats computer/phone pdf for me. i don't buy every book i download but i've bought a lot of books and will continue to do so.

>> No.3889132

>>3889119
Instructional books are a different matter. You can look things up extremely fast and you can switch pages super fast too. You feel the pages, you can mark them up. I highly recommend always going for softcover books when buying instructional as you can really work with the book without worrying about getting it in bad shape, a good instructional book is a well worn out book.

But for artbooks purely depicting artwork? It's nice to go trough them on a sunny day, there is hardly something more comfy but they are really large and weight a lot, the pages are sometimes stiff, they take lots of space on your table and you may feel reluctant to really put them to work since you don't want to damage them. Not to mention that any artwork that is smaller than half a page is just too small and two pagers ruin the artwork because of the binding of the book. One pagers are the most ideal and depending on the editor there may not be that many of them.

I somewhat agree on art books depicting only artwork. Unless it's an artist or photographer you really adore, they're not as easy to recommend for art application purposes. The only "artbooks" (books of art and not instruction, which is how i have them separated in my /ic/ book folder as well) I've purchased new are new books where the author's works aren't widely available and they're not scanned. Everything else is either bargain bin oversized photography books or paintings from museum collections, used books from Amazon, or used library books. They wouldn't be entertainment unless I had kids. Good to grab for inspiration or a study here and there but I pick up as I fancy, not to buy for the hell of it.

If you know any good free and practical alternative that of a reasonable size of space (eg Google Drive only gives 15 GB), that downloads at a good speed and does not limit the size of the file (Zippyshare limits it to 500 MB), we can start sharing the files on the other hand.

It's pointless. Uneven and poor lightning makes it completely impossible to restore the original colors and contrast, except if you put in a lot of work and work directly with the original book as reference but in that case you could just make a decent scan to begin with.

And even after all that the resolution is so bad that there is no point, all details are lost, it will be blurry and unappealing even from a distance. With a high quality 4k camera in a well lit room it's a different matter though.

If you're in Tokyo you could see about dropping by the Kaikai Kiki Gallery and pick up an artbook by BOME, Mr. or even Takashi Murakami:

http://en.gallery-kaikaikiki.com/category/publications/

None of their artbooks have been scanned and I'd really appreciate it if someone were to do so.
