I think the main thing setting you apart from RJ is:
>The lack of edge control
For example, the legs don't really stand apart from the grassy background and it doesn't really carry that weight that you need, especially in terms of lighting.
>Colour theory
There are loads and loads of subtle colour variations and I think that if you were able to mimic it more, it would make your work pop out.

No. It’s clear that you are putting no real thought or construction behind these drawings, so many of them look skewed and uncanny. Rather than just trying to copy the reference as close as possible with line, try harder to understand the form and how the expression can alter them and vice versa. You can also improve by being more conscious of your value choice and where you are putting it. Yes, a quick sketch or whatever doesn’t need to be rendered fully, but certain areas will read immensely better if you put some flats down or even some light hatching to better establish the forms. Good luck.

Dynamic.
Even though its really well done, Its "blink and you'll miss it" with cones, thats what makes them seem fast.
Perhaps the speed lines/raindrops(?) and the outstretched ball on the line are telling enough of the speed.
Its thrown off by her pose. Reaching that level of fast requires balance and streamlining, both for which she is not best positioned (weight is a bit scattered); I think the danger here is more important than the speed, which you've nailed.
I have a feeling the character will look more integrated without poofy on her ass.
Maybe birds lagging behind, or one of the sub fishies biting the end of her broom(?). Or nothing at all, its wowing everyone as it is.
Blog please, I want more.

Color can actually be very flexible of you use a unifying overlay color (traditionally called a "glaze" where a very thinned layer of paint is placed over an area to bring the color underneath closer to the thinned color) or a bottom layer color wash to help harmonize whatever colors you're using.

Marco Bucci and Proko both have really good videos on this. Proko's video with Court Jones goes a step further on how to digitally apply the concepts discussed in Bucci's video.

Bucci: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LhcNbFMkTw
Proko w/ Court Jones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Dbf63YnkeA

In short, do not be afraid of "picking the wrong color". Instead, understand that color relationships are FAR more important than the actually colors you pick. You can paint an apple red or green, but you need to know the surrounding colors, the amount of saturation, and how the colors will merge into each other to create harmonic pieces.

That's pretty cool anon, I would suggest downplaying the texture of the brush on the background down the line, as it is now it generates too many details and makes it distracting. The hair could benefit from bolder shapes to make it more readable too.
Also, consider aplying a little bit of dark ambient oclussion shadows to some of the objects for the same reason. And maybe the colors are too homogeneous, you could try a little bit of color abstraction.
Maybe some of these things you were going to fix down the line anyways, but I wanted to chime in.

I just like flats, but probably yeah. Sharper angles more easily. I find when I use rounds or filberts that paintings of buildings become a little too oil sketchy, and you have to mix too many individual colors. It’s good if you’re doing a legit street scene and not something surrealist like what I posted, cause the only way to really paint cars is with a round brush, but I usually just like to paint the tops of buildings and not make my paintings an advertisement for Chevy

There’s potential here - but right now, too much figure drawing and repeating learned shapes and symbols.

It seems to me what you’re doing is creating something based on a style, rather than using a style to represent reality - which brings viewers closer to your work.

I recommend giving Loomis a try, or finding a resource for 3D construction of portraits that works for you. Keep practicing, and you got this.
