Happy anniversary, guys. Hard to believe a whole year has passed since I barely scrapped together a functional submission system using a language I scrambled to learn within two weeks.

I'm still working on dev stuff. Lots of quality of life things (including the notification fix) are in progress, which can be hard to balance with my side endeavors.

I'm not perfect. I definitely procrastinate more than I should, and some ideas I've explored were more detrimental that useful. I want to apologize for the missteps, but also reaffirm my commitment to continuing to do what's best for the site in the coming years.

God damn it. How do you guys come up with nice, vibrant colours?

I have a cyanish-blue dragon. Because complementary colours are supposed to look good, I want to put it in a reddish-orange environment: I'm thinking of some volcano with lava (that will supply red rim light) and a throne made out of stone. But if I'll just make it orange and cyan it looks awful, dragon clearly doesn't belong there, it looks like a collage made out of random, completely different illustrations. So I'm mixing colours of my dragon with colours of environment: it turns out purple. But at the same time everything becomes muddy and so ugly that my eyes hurt.
I've been fiddling with those thumbnails for the last 2 hours and I still can't figure it out. I really could use some tips. I just want some vibrant, eye-catching colors.

Thanks Anon! Yeah, that's pretty much what I was aiming for. It looks much better than anything that I could come up with: I especially love what you did with the fire at the bottom of the picture and how colours on thighs look.

But how did you decide which colours you should use? I hope I don't sound ungrateful (it's really great to know how my picture is supposed to look like), but the next time I'll be painting something new I won't know what to do. Do you have a method for choosing colours (like using color.adobe.com or something)? Or is it just a matter of practice and intuition?

it's fine, questioning stuff is how you learn in the first place. it's a matter of practice and intuition, build up your vision and mental gallery by looking at what pictures you're aiming to look as and make sure you study them. always wonder why that color is placed there and what would happen if you changed up some hues, what mainly lacked in your previous iterations was the color green and consistency throughout the picture. i cant give you a "one size fits all" palette or the likes because everyone has different goals and tastes, you gotta find yours, good luck and keep drawing

I'm working on a hide feature.
The idea is that after a certain period of time, you can hide/delete a submission for whatever reason if it's a part of your streak. Been debating on the appropriate time duration as somewhere between two weeks and a month. If you want to hide/delete it immediately, your streak would be eliminated first.

If that image did not contribute at all to your current streak (you were eliminated some time after you eliminated), you can hide it if desired. Deletions would also be ok.
