what was the craziest improvement in someone's skill you've witnessed?

If you asked for something I have personally witnessed, then I've seen ONE improve a lot with his manga series but I'm sure there are people that have made more progress in less time. Also your pic related. Araki progressed a lot if you compare his older work to his new stuff.

Even though I'm not too fond of his stuff, I enjoyed reading about how guys progress too:

Araki's progress iis also over a good 30~ year period. His biggest jump in quality was definitely in P4 though.

I think is totally traced, though. What do you think?

I like it as long as theres more to it or theres something happening in the picture. Shale's portraits are boring, though. I'll give you that.

>> No.3879072

>>3878834
They're tracing in both, at least the basic pose. You can see the same rendering in the clothing on the old one, just the face is the biggest gap in skill, so I'd think they're maybe colorpicking and heavily referencing someone elses art for the face, and it seems like the face in the first isn't their top level of skill, based on the smart places where they placed the minimal rendering on the shirt. But they probably used ref/trace for the pose in both, since the posing and body proportion is a bit too naturalistic for a beginner to have stumbled on as just an early style. Unless they're tracing another artist who also uses ref like that.

sometimes iam shocked by what makes me laugh these days.

I used to draw on dA and for some reason (don't remember how, since we weren't really even drawing the same things) happened to befriend a dude who was around the same level as me. He was super nice and friendly too. Then at one point he obviously got serious and started improving like fuck and I stagnated and eventually stopped and we fell out of contant. He ended up becoming really damn good in the end and I doubt he even remembers me anymore, but I can't help wondering where I could be now if I got off my lazy ass back then and started practicing with him.

>> No.3879724

>>3879721
Honestly I don't remember, it's been like a decade since then so the timeframe is not very clear in my mind. I just remember the point where he clearly started putting in effort and every new pic was significantly better than the last.
