are the pencils at the bottom left funny because a beginner may not use a wide range of tones? or is it something else

I'm guilty of still googling how to improve. I already draw everyday but whatever insight I get will help. Though I already read everything important on /ic/

There aren't more life changing tips I think

Go through fun with a pencil and draw everything in the book. It's a good start for beginners to understand form and constructiom

I don't get the pains part. Why do artists get wrist and neck pain so much? I never get that at all. I don't do anything out of my way to prevent pain besides not using a scrunched up grip on my pencil.

You have to actually draw to experience the pains

I'm 24 and have been drawing since my teens. Granted, I lift and do compound workouts, along with stretching and proper posture. I do those for general fitness but perhaps it's paying off in the art realm as well.

It's funny because beginners always buy that brand of pencil

There's nothing wrong with it, just like there's nothing wrong with googling how to improve your art. It's just an unfunny boring very literal starterpack meme. You are reading too much into it. There's nothing to learn here. Stop looking at stupid memes and go draw with whatever pencil is available.

They're the most noticeable pencils on the store shelves.
I assume that most people are like me, and just buy the first pencil that catches their eyes

starter pack images are retarded but pretty sure it's using an HB or #2 pencil, especially on lined paper. It looks shitty or amateurish no matter what level of artist. Then they post and wonder why they're not being praised. Noidea what the pictures are that aren't websites or proko.

I fucking hate those pencils, I bought a 9B once and it turns out they're mixed with charcoal or something to make the graphite opaque and they're scratchy as fuck on the canvas. I want my soft pencils greasier than butter thank you very much.

>all these pencilfags
Who gives a shit about pencil brands lmao. Pencil's on the fucking list because it's garbage beginner tool and you'd better switch to pen or, if it's not your thing, to more expressive "soft" medium like charcoal or sanguine ASAP. It's not like it's impossible to make good art with graphite pencils but you must be really fucking lucky for its limitations to perfectly fit your technique so that it won't turn your art into dull garbage.

Hb is not a drawing pencil. Anything below 5b is not made for drawing

>> No.3862943

>>3860370
This makes sense to me, since the graphite pencil doesn’t really make for a good art tool seeing as it lacks line variation and makes ugly dull looking lines. But don’t even pros who use mostly ink to draw still construct the basic outline their drawings using soft pencil marks? Definitely don’t want to focus too much or get too anal about pencils but they have a use for the simple reason that they can be erased.
