Lots of anons like to throw around the idea of "making it" but the actual definition depends on the person, what does most of /ic/ think it means?

Becoming skilled enough to produce art that I can be satisfied with, definitely. It's far too late for me to do this shit as a carrier, and I don't really care about that either way. I just want to draw cool stuff because I like cool stuff and I want to be better. I don't think I'll ever be satisfied with my work, but perhaps that's the point.

There's no "making it", even if you become legendary you're still going to die at the end, all your works crumbled to dust, swallowed up by the sun.

I'd like to be able to teach others, because drawing is cool and very fw people actually know how to do it.

I'd like to make comics, too.

besides fame all points seem valid as "making it". Being satisfied with your work, objectively good technique and getting paid for it is probably the triumvirate of making it.

My goal was: Earning enough money from art to live comfortably on my own.
My expectations were: Getting a job in the industry as a Concept Artist/Illustrator
What happened: Earning tons of money from art.

Goal: make 700 euros per month via internet
Why: I am on medical disability because I am schizo, however the medical benefit system allow me to earn that much without cutting off my benefits. With 700 euros I could earn enough to have a decent living and save a few hundred/month for the future.

I can't even have a day job because I'm too mentally ill to hold one down. When I'm outside of my house I can resist max 30 minutes before panicking

Making it isnt a place but a part of the journey where you are self propelled by your own work. This could be freelance, working at a studio, having a large following. It depends, so long as all the work you put out allows you do to more.

Both being satisfied with what I can do, and making a decent living out of it.
Making it also and most importantly finding meaning through art, as abstract as it sounds. Life feels extremely empty outside of my artistic projects now that I got into my head to become a drawfag and create my own universe/stories.

I wouldn't mind making some money from art, truth be told I've still got a lot of learning ahead of me so for now 'making it' for me is to just become good enough to be satisfied with my own work and just maybe create work others can like too, because this is a fun hobby

I'm happy earning my money from a dayjob, but I would like to be able to made enough of the odd sales from my work that I can justify only working my dayjob part time, and having an exhibition at least once a year
I dream of having my own coffee table art book but I don't see it ever happening at this rate, I'm nearly 30 and my exhibitions seem to have dried up in my early 20s
