how the fuck do I learn human anatomy?
nothings working for me. Am I just too retarded for this shit?

>> No.3849621

It's rote memorization. Download the Stephen Rogers Peck anatomy book, export all the pages with drawings on them into jpgs and open them in your software of choice. Trace over each isolated muscle, bone or bone fragment in a new layer while saying its name redundantly i.e. "extensor carpi radialis longus", "anterior deltoid", "coracoid process" etc.

Doing just this much you will learn their names and general placement over the course of a few weeks. At that point you can begin to do real figure drawing and try and recall in your mind the muscles and bones as you observe them in the context of a real figure.

Learn the body in stages.
>skeletal system
>skeletal system using perspective
>major muscle groups: back, torso, chest
>minor muscle groups: arms, buttocks, legs
>all muscle groups in perspective
>shapes of hands and feet
>hands and feet in perspective
>tie all your study together with dynamic gesture drawing
>learn the specific details and names AFTER you understand how the body is visually constructed.

Why the fuck not? You're drawing systems and groups not fucking reciting greys anatomy. Learn the architecture of the thing then build ontop of that. Or are you so dense you think you need an intimate knowledge of every facet of each bone and blood vessel before you can figure out how to draw the human body?

I don't agree with that guy either, but what are your reasons?

it takes a while man. Basically what >>3849627 said: there's so many things to learn in human anatomy, you gotta break it down and learn it piece by piece.

Learning their names will make you a better artist.

You're right, thank god I knew it was called the coracobrachialis. That saved me a lot of time when drawing the arm.
