How does IQ correlate to being a skilled artist?
Were the "Masters" high IQ?
Can someone with a low IQ still make it?

If you haven't done piles of drawings since you were a kid just because you enjoyed it, your only hope is a very scientific and analytic approach. Some who drew since they were kids might develop something that works for them and it becomes a habit. But they cant really explain to you what they are doing because it is very intuitive for them due to many years of accumulated experience. Others start late and because they are intelligent they figure out how to create an image in a more technical way. A good example is Craig Mullins. He didnt start drawing properly until he was 21 or something. If you gave him pencil and paper to draw with dont expect anything amazing. But he has figured out a process that works for him on his own.

The ability to create images in your head, that you can see (third eye) is probably one of the most important. as well as the ability to store images, technical skill can all be learned, even at 100-110 range. Pure talent i think is the ability to manipulate images, and "fill in the blanks" manually. but you wont ever "make it" unless you have the ability to create images that people like. which is way more abstract and probably reliant on your childhood.

has there ever been found a noticeable correlation between being a good artist and IQ?

even in fields like chess where IQ seems to have a big impact you can find studies which contradict that.

IQ probably only matters when any particular field is undeveloped and when an individual is a beginner, for example if you look at chess grandmasters from before 1980 you'll find out that like 50% of them are ashkenazi jews. this isn't the case anymore ever since chess has moved forward as a field.

IQ is basically a crutch that helps unskilled retards who don't want to work hard

>Does Chess Need Intelligence? – A Study with Young Chess Players

that's one study, it only tested young players though.

but as I've said before, if you look at the advancements of chess and look at all of the grandmasters you'll see that the number of ashkenazi jew(highest IQ among any ethnic group) grandmasters has declined, it was much greater in the past for the simple reason of chess being undeveloped as a field.

pioneers are usually very smart, but the people that come after them and work on their knowledge aren't necessarily. practice/skill/time begin to matter more than intelligence.

taking the above study into account, being a brainlet can in some circumstances be a blessing--since you're more likely to stick with whatever skill you're trying to learn than a smarter person. but this would obviously depend on other personality traits as well.

IQ is essentially potential for intelligence due to the ability to recognize patterns. I think that essentially translates into one's ability to make high-quality art because you have to recognize and learn structure, anatomy, color theory, perspective, etc. You only need a low IQ for paint splatter bullshit, moderate IQ for copying/tracing/heavy referencing, and high IQ for high quality, non-copied work with good fundies.

This could explain why places like Europe and Asia had a history of higher-quality art compared to places like, say, Saharan Africa. Their art is mostly crude and they struggle to create art in the likeness of real people, and in an aesthetically pleasing way.

What is eq and personality traits. Just because someone has a high iq doesn't mean their work is going to have any depth outside of technical ability. The fact still remains you don't need a high iq to learn the fundamentals, you just need the right mindset and a good source of knowledge/teacher.

I've taken a bunch of IQ tests. Studied the study of intelligence and considered making that a focus of study if I stayed in skool. Written a ton about all the ways that IQ isn't really anything other than a retard test for children. If you want to determine your child's relative test taking abilities then its not a bad meme but beyond that it's pretty much just dogshit. Definitely not something to put a lot of personal value into, particularly since most of the people that are super stoked about IQ haven't even been tested and they're just relying on demographic averages and maybe like a 20 question online test.

Like you can study and improve your IQ. Your IQ is influenced by which language you learn first, how rich your parents are, how much sleep you got the night before, what you ate, how much you were primed, how much you've already learned, etc. The idea that it's a study of "raw intelligence" or whatever is a goof.

Plus, in terms of being an artfag. "Spatial reasoning" is like 1/3rd of the test. You could be an off-the-charts genius on those questions and a fucking retard at doing numbers and talking good, and come away with an average IQ.

Plus you can be a genius with a big brain number all you want. If you don't do anything with it it doesn't matter. A motivated dipshit is better than a self-important "genius" that is more concerned with saying that they're smart than demonstrating it.

well my dad called my mom a frigid unfuckable lesbian a lot and she didn't really have a social life raising us and getting a doctorate and being principle of a citywide program to help autistic and emotionally disturbed children like you learn how to make their way in life. I guess you're probably from somewhere that doesn't fund stuff like that, which is why you're so upset?
>i wonder whata it sounds like when shes railing strangers in the room over
So your parents don't have a healthy sex life? And I learned what that shit sounds like from staying at my dad's house. That dude fucked.

Not really no. That's a weird thing to project about yourself tho. Do you have a lot of incest fantasies about your parents?

I think high IQ artists are more critical of their drawings, are less prone to delusions, recognize mistakes, know where and how to improve, they work more analytical, recognize patterns, understand why something looks good or bad, can organize and, while not usually associated with IQ, are generally able to work in a disciplined matter, sinc etehy have self-control. Ofc, there are high IQ people with poor self-control and fucked-up reward centres in the brain. I think self-control matters most in art, but a high IQ as always helps. High IQ and self-controlis also associated with faster learning.

And yet I think art doesn't require a high IQ to git gud. Average should do. It's probably one of the less IQ reliant skills.

IQ is only reliable when testing retards, for anyone below 80 it will be accurate, for any normal range of intelligence it's very fallible, someone on amphetamines could do the test faster and get a high result but that doesn't mean it made them actually smarter, if anything it brought them closer to being a braindamaged schizo retard. Anyway it doesn't matter if you never amount to or accomplish anything like the abstract math major NEETs/baristas on /sci/ who are obsessed with IQ. Most artists are probably retarded though, just watch interviews of famous musicians they are like drooling monkeys so you def don't need a high IQ if you want to"make it".

lol "the material." There's a lot of material.

Why do you believe in IQ? What material specifically makes you have so much faith in it? Have you been administered an IQ test? Taken a few online tests that'll give you a 100 even if you get all the questions wrong?
