shirt looks really nice
that subtle core shadow on the twisting fold really gives it life.
too bad that doesn't apply to the rest of the drawing.

thanks man, I'm going to try to work on the rest with the more subtle shirt approach

It's a good start, keep going.

Couple of small points:

Work the drawing up in all areas at the same time. Dive into other areas and pay attention, then break off and bring the other parts up equally. It's a good habit to get into, to work up pieces consistently, so you don't find yourself with nothing but the "boring" parts untouched, and you lose interest in finishing, or you rush and don't do a good job. It's like eating cake - you ate all the icing first, and the cake part is untouched. If that makes sense.

The more important issue with this is you'll be able to adjust your values across the whole piece as you go. You've now established all of your values, and that will dictate the rest of the drawing - and if you went too dark on the leg, it'll be harder now to adjust, than working the values up across all of it.

Work on bigger paper. Give your drawings more room to breath, and just from a mechanical perspective, if you complete this and want to frame it, you're not leaving yourself much room to work with.

idk if you're there. I say work on where you place your darker tone. I feel that it doesn't blend well.
