is the regular iPad at 9.7 inches good enough for drawing or do I have to splurge $1k for the 12.9 inch?

You could always walk into a store and test which one feels better to hold and use
I have a 10.5 inch one and it's pretty good, I wouldn't mind if it was smaller, the size is more than enough for big strokes

9.7 means its the 2017 one. If i remember correctly they stopped selling apple pens compatible with the 2017 versions as soon as the 2018 ones came out, night be wrong though.
The 2018 comes in 2 sizes 11.someting and 12.something.

Ive tested it on the store. It's really wonky. Feels so constrained. I much prefer my old wacom bamboo over it. Go to a store and test it.
But test it for a looong time, try to make a piece or something.

Don't listen to this retard. Even the regular (non-pro) ipad is a million times better than drawing on a fucking wacom bamboo. Just depends on the software you use. I like CSP. It's literally the entire desktop program just ported over to the ipad.
