Agreed, they've been doing it for the last three threads or so. Although I do like how this op puts in the effort and includes previous threads + previous links + updates on scanned books. Feels like they actually care about the artbook threads, unlike the chain of several before current OP's where they would just slap on the pasted op text and call it a day. Kinda makes up for it I guess.

Good idea, I'll make a pastebin to collect links from previous threads. The reason I put those posts is because quite a few people actually seem to look through them before posting, unlike the pastebin dumps. Also having a general list of good books for certain subjects can be useful for those looking to break into said subjects. I'll probably keep the limit at 3 or 4 link lists though so it doesn't get too out of hand.

thanks to some of the anons a few threads back. got the two manga matrix books for dirt cheap. some of the illustrations are good and some like that dude on the cover are /beg/ as fuck. but it's a nice thing to get ideas from for character design. i also got an old hardcover copy of guptill's rendering in pen and ink which blows all the scans i've seen out of the water. anyone interested in inking i highly recommend getting a copy of the book, it's 9x12" and under $15.

OP here. Good news, the Xenoblade 2 artbook has arrived. Bad news, I'm extremely stupid and left my scanning equipment behind when I moved out. I likely won't be able to drive back until next weekend. I'll uploaded a few crappy phone screenshots. I will buy a book if its around $20 (like steve hustons book) but some of these art books are $75+. Just ridiculous.

They should sell instructional versions with shitty unappealing covers so students can access education without having to pay the same price as some asshole who wants a book for their coffee table or "books I havent read" wall. This is what paperback/hardback used to be but not anymore.

I use "xmlbar video downloader", you need vip accout to download 1080p or higher (normally you can only download max 720p, but that's okay with me).

My opinion about Sakimichan: Her techniques are very simple. Mostly she use hard round and soft brush to paint, and selection to mask. So all the painting process videos are kind of the same. I don't learn much from the tutorial either. And sometime I don't feel right about her painting anatomy and proportion. The only thing I like in her painting is the way she light the character, feel soft and glowy, feel good.

That's honestly just the cover. In the Super book there are almost 100 artist contributions, in the regular book there are almost 40. It's not about the art, although there are some good full page illustrations, it's about the character design or piecing together elements. It starts off with the basics like addition, subtraction, and groups, and then goes off into further examples or methods from there. There's some creature and robo stuff too.

I might get around to all of this one and a few other books next time I have a break. I need to figure out a workflow for editing images and keeping them pressed better on the scanner.

The designs are cool, the environment art and mood are beautiful. If you into concept art, I think you would like it.

Of course drawing is not the point of the art book, it's concept and design. And photobashing is pretty much standard now. If you want to work on game or movie, you should dig in this style of workflow. Even if you just want to draw something, the book still a good scifi design reference.

Gally/Alita has been around for a long time, and a dedicated fan could be expecting to see more of her origins being infused in the movie and accompanying book than what they got.

Personally, I'm excited to see it. It looks great. I love Cristoph Waltz in whatever he's in, and if you can't see the careful and deliberate design choices made for the movie based on the manga, you're blind ... but a concept art book like that one may not be for everyone.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy concept work and have a ton of making/art of books. I just think that while bashing is great for quick study of color and texture, it's the least interesting part of the process to study/appreciate.
