I fucking hate these faggot ass rich kids who can afford good art classes and art school and are good.
I hate them so much it's helping motivate me to get better.

I desperately wish I could just fuck off and be an art major. But no. That's for kids whose parents will support them forever. I have to take a computer science degree so I can get a job. Art majors don't care if they get a job or not, because they don't even need one. I hate computer science. I don't give a shit about it, I want more time to devote to drawing and I want the advantage of having professional instructors.

>> No.3812130

They're the reason conceptual art is a thing. Don't worry, it's dying off and actual skill will matter soon. Hang in there.

Op That's no excuse. Loomis is free.

Trust me I've tried most paid courses they are and the "best" ones just regurgitate loomis.

And everything not covered by loomis is online free...

Save for NMA/reilly all good figure drawing courses are just a variation of loomis. Prove me wrong I dare you.

BTW hampton is just a variant of loomis.

let see
-NMA (Huston/Vippu/Karl method) figure
gesture + structure (simple form)
-Drawing Database Marc Leone
gesture + structure
-The Art & Science of Figure Drawing: Gesture Brent Eviston
gesture
-Hampton book/course
gesture + structure with Loomis head and
simplify anatomy of muscle
if anything Hampton is far more Vippu than Loomis in his figures
I didn't check the reilly rhythm but it sound like a form of gesture too
and yes their methods are quite similar but far from Loomis mannequin

>> No.3812193

>>3812191
So you proved me right....

I said "except NMA" and all of those are part of NMA

>> No.3812194

>>3812193
are you ignore other and Hampton then?
I use NMA teachers to show you that teacher these days use gesture

>> No.3812195

>>3812191
1.-I said NMA didn't count
2.-Leone is misleading as he doesn't offer a course from start to finish about the figure to compare
3.-Hampton is a vairant of loomis specially the head.
4.- "The art and science"
So it's just gesture drawing. Not a complete figure course.

So I'm right.

Hampton is a variant of loomis. Especially the his head method.

... You proved me right basically.

>> No.3812200

>>3812196
>Hampton is a variant of loomis
that is wrong
Hampton use gesture and form for figure which is flat out similar to Vippu
Marc Leone course is as detail as it get even more detail than NMA course check his playlist
Eviston course refined gesture to 10min+ figure near the end but didn't go for the anatomy

>> No.3812202

Going to art school is for losers. I know because i did it, and i'm a poorfag. Everything you need to learn to draw is readily available on the internet, and also you can figure shit out for yourself, you know. Drawing is not straightforward like mathematics. It's more like an organic flow of events, differs from person to person.
Save up a bit of cash, and go do as much live act drawing as you can, they usually don't cost all that much, just make sure you go at least once a week and there you go, if you focus on improving, you'll get where you want, sooner or later

>> No.3812205

>>3812200
>So I'm right

Again Leone's content is great, but it's just bitsa and pieces. Its not a complete drawing course from start to finish.

I call bullshit on you claiming hampton doesn't use Loomis. His head is a variant of loomis, eh even uses the same knife analogy.

Eviston= Only gesture. Also not a complete figure drawing course. By that logic all gestures are special snowflakes.

Again all figure drawing courses are just variants of what vilppu or loomis teaches.

>>3812205
>I call bullshit on you claiming hampton doesn't use Loomis
his FIGURE I SAID he used loomis Head but his FIGURE is not
do I need to repeat this for the fourth time
all of those above not counting all the fine art teacher and non NMA vippu courses(which are better than his NMA)
show that most good figure these day use a variant of gesture and structure not Loomis mannequin

Different anon here. Fun fact - Hampton was Karl's student, and ripped off almost everything Karl taught, including the language and concepts he uses in the Figure Drawing for design and invention book. Especially the head portion.

And of course Karl was Vilppu's student, but the way they teach the head has differences, at least.

You could try game dev. If you don't like logic programming, there's also technical art- like developing shaders. Go to one of the game jams or GDC or some online community and make one with a team, add it to a portfolio or sell it. You can also write engines and renderers, or your own language(even better if you can an actual good/better design). Believe me, if you study CS properly, the amount of shit you can create is vast. Demo scenes for example are fun as fuck. Crazy procedural shit-

A lot of programming jobs are fun as hell.

Try going into game dev. I haven't studied computer science, but I can only assume a lot of the things you learn could easily be applied to more complex concepts like shader programming, rendering engines etc. You'll have a huge advantage over most people who study game dev if you have a computer science degree.

Well, pay attention in class if you're taking a course, read books and mess with sources on git or somewhere. Be proactive, read documentation and how things actually work. Using YouTube tutorials(the current state of them) is one of the worst ways to learn though- nothing is explained and everything is shown in steps. If any of them explains what's going on and tells the implications of doing things in certain ways, then go for it. Otherwise, you may get bad habits like shotgun programming and copy-pasting.
In essence, give an actual fuck about the art. Best way to give a fuck about something in my opinion is to know what it practically can be used for, see if you're interested in it or not, and proceed. Also, give yourself projects. You could try writing a hacking program to hack other programs, for example-- really basic stuff once you know how pointers work.

>>3812818
Yup, having a course that walks you through important things is pretty damn useful. Shader programming and rendering is mostly Trigonometry and Linear Algebra assuming you have an API that lets you draw on the screen.
