Yeah, i got influences. But i admit that's not easy to find your own style in Cyberpunk illustration, 'cause it's seems that all invented. Any typ for traditional art? This really depends on what you mean by "work".

If by "work", you mean that this thread is supposed to be a serious vehicle for gaining a large amount of followers from the visitors of /ic/, then no - it doesn't work. Though I don't think that's what most people expect from this thread. I think anyone who does expect that is misguided and frankly a bit dumb.

Myself - and I can only assume others - are mostly interested in seeing a profile of different artists on /ic/, and to follow the anons whose work they enjoy and want to see more of. That's about it. I've followed a handful of artists that I like, and a several others have followed me. You can see peoples goals and their larger body of work, and you can get an idea of the type of people that are posting on /ic/.

There's also periodic discussion of social media related things and questions, though the advice really varies in quality (it's mostly shitty, vague and unhelpful). It's also easy to link back to your post here in the case that someone else asks for your blog in another thread.

It really depends of your confidence, I've heard scott eaton and others said you shouldn't let anyone see your sketches, and I also seen tons of others saying that you should show your process. deviantart, instagram and tumblr could get you tons of views if every now and then you create some popular fan art of things you like, I know it sounds like whoring yourself but it could pay off if you can create an audience.

Not that guy, but you should do Artstation and Instagram. Forget about DeviantArt and Tumblr. Think a little bit more about what 'exposure' means, and what its actually good for. Exposure is only worthwhile when the right work is viewed by the right person at the right time. Exposure without intent is aimless and won't get you very far. Exposure to the wrong audience is wasted exposure.

You - as a hopeful fantasy / sci-fi illustrator - want to get your work exposed to a specific audience. That audience is art / creative directors. They are your target audience, as they will ultimately be the ones who commission you for well-paid commercial work. You will find much, much more of them on Instagram than you will on DeviantArt and Tumblr. There's multiple reasons for this, including (but not limited to):
+ The size of the platforms (Instagram is considerably larger than both)
+ Their growth/decline (Tumblr traffic has been falling steadily, while Instagram has been growing. It is still a good time to jump onto Instagram)
+ The makeup of each site (DeviantArt is largely composed of other artists - which is not your primary audience for your goal of becoming a freelance illustrator. Tumblr is - in many ways - anonymous, as people tend to create their own blogs & usernames independently of their real-world identities. Instagram is much more tied to real-world identities and real-world relationships)

This is not to say that Tumblr is a bad platform, but it is largely second-rate to Instagram in terms of its usefulness.

Artits on many mediums, currently working as a tattoo artist by demand on a studio. But I do a lot of digital and watercolor.

There's a lot of artists here who I sort of want to follow since I think they're pretty good, but god damn. Finish your work.

Most of the blogs here are full of nothing but aimless studies, really loose / rough WIPs (that are never finished), or sloppy & quick sketches. Why are a lot of you completely incapable of seeing something through to completion? It's like you'll be drawing something, think "Wow, this piece is really going somewhere!" and then just quit and move onto something else. This is especially true for people who do digital paintings. Your work does not look intentionally loose and expressive or full of implied detail, it just looks sloppy and incomplete.

There's nothing wrong with sharing sketches, studies and WIP's, but it's incredibly jarring when that's all there is. The sad thing is that I know that if some of you were to just stick with your pieces for a little bit longer, you'd be able to see it through to completion, but no - you always just seem to give up.
