As anyone tried mikanschool.org?

From what I see, its like new masters academy, but the instructors there are mostly professional Japanese artists

I'm quite interested in their painting classes

Some of the painting ones seemed not half bad like Shihou but it's definitely not something I would sub for more than a month for, and certainly not until they had way more resources. Most of the stuff I know already from books or videos, or you can find it online easily. However some of what they cover seems to be a decent all-in-one place for it since so many are too lazy to read.

I'm disappointed that they're dubbed over though. The people who they have voicing the class video introductions are so fucking bad and clearly lack an understanding of Japanese. Audio should be JP with ENG subs. Listen to this shit

It's all in m3u8, but here is the catch: the video and the subtitles are not together. So not only it'd be a hassle to rip the video, there'd be no subs. Right now, it'd be pretty useless.

I'd rather not have to rip it by recording the whole screen if possible, but these new Amazon-hosted DRM videos are a mess to work with.

The subs actually give a lot of insight. I'd rather not rip this at all without them.

For example, this dude worked on Eva and Code Geass and he dead ass says that proper perspective is cool and dandy but gets in the way of cuteness a lot of the times for anime characters, so he avoids it unless he's doing something realistic. It stands at odds with what a lot of people here believe, but his results speak for themselves

>he dead ass says that proper perspective is cool and dandy but gets in the way of cuteness a lot of the times for anime characters, so he avoids it unless he's doing something realistic. It stands at odds with what a lot of people here believe, but his results speak for themselves
I'm aware of that and always having to argue with retards about it here so I can understand wanting to keep them together. Eyes especially don't follow perspective if you read any of the books or watch them draw.

Are the subs in a different file? With ffmpeg you could easily convert it to an mkv container and put the subs inside.

I think you're misinterpreting what he means. It's not that perspective magically prevents cuteness, it's that perspective alone isn't enough to make cute stuff. People that overfocus on perspective usually forgets to take into account of aesthetic, thus their work look less cute.

Drafting story could be relevant since mangaka in japan draw out there scripts storyboard style. I appreciate all the videos we have gotten so far. Would love to see the character design ones as well, but I'll take whatever OP is willing to share with us.

It’s not relevant to this board. This is a drawing place.

Judging by the depth of these courses so far, I wouldn't have high hopes. "Anime figure drawing" is a meme, learn actual realistic fundies figure drawing then translate to anime. There are already plenty of places to observe figure drawing from twitter, pixiv, and youtube for East Asian influences.

Learning art is about as much practicing and discovering on your own as it is learning from others. Copy as much as you can. You don't understand that in Western society copying has fallen out of fashion. All the good artists you see have spent hundreds or thousands of hours copying the masters or what they consider master work, no one likes to talk about it anymore though.
