Here's a redpill for y'all: Only people who don't genuinely enjoy drawing look for motivational tools like LAS. That's why vast majority of dads draw only 30 minutes. And, since dads aren't passionate about improving it isn't surprising that they're not improving and never will.

My current instance of LAS participation is under KazooKD. If I look back at my work three years ago on original LAS I'd say I've come a long way. I work way harder than I used to, and it certainly isn't all DAD/LAS, but it did help me get a more concrete idea of what I had to do to improve then, and now gives me that extra little incentive every day, not to mention a sense of community. I've made friends with artists I respect and can also learn from. I also feel I genuinely learned things through the challenges, and am looking forward to more learning oriented ones.

Obviously LAS alone isn't it. The bare minimum doesn't do anything. But it's a step.

An example of how I approached painting when I first started on the old LAS site. I have a very long way to go, for sure, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to look back either.

I want to say I keep going backwards but to be honest I don't understand the meaning of hard work despite wanting the skill of a hard worker. This is a flaw in my personality. You have to right click to view file properties though and sometimes modifying the file will shuffle it in “organize by date,” sometimes you do want the modified file to appear first as well. It’s just easier to see at a glance when you did what picture. But I agree, I like looking at the file properties when I’m curious how long ago I started a piece.

Windows (7) doesn't organize by date created, window's "date" sort is date modified which jumbles with other files and is easily tampered.
Sorting alphabetically and naming them after the date is an easy good habit that sorts that problem.

I dont think its a mandatory thing. there are a lot of things wrong with the idea because at that point were crediting literally everything all the time. most of his drawings weren't even 1:1 but even ignoring that where do we draw the line on this? Do I credit poses likenesses style similarities color pallets? Even when it comes to a lot of art like characters people don't often credit and its fine if its seen as a "homage" to the series. what about if you start doing life sketches should you go up to the random person you drew and ask for their name so you can credit it? It all just seems like going down some crazy rabbit hole that seems a bit far fetched.

anons that's not nice, it's a genuine physical problem in the brain. Just because it's overdiagnosed doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There's more to it than this but a large problem in people with ADHD is a low level of dopamine and underdeveloped prefrontal cortex. So you crave instant gratification all the time and are essentially incapable of controlling yourself without extreme therapy (which doesn't fully work).

I have combined-type adult ADHD, and without medication, my working memory and executive functioning are completely fried. Adderall helps me think linearly, but it doesn't do much else than give me a high resting heart rate and slightly elevated anxiety levels. If you're taking it to get wired and bust out drawings for 16 hours you probably don't have ADHD. Some people need it just to be at a baseline level. It's neurology man.

if you want to draw surreal and creepy stuff, practice skeletal and muscular anatomy. Those are some important things to understand alongside techniques to be able to produce creepy shit. Also knowledge of values (levels of darkness in colors) will be invaluable to you. I took a large dose of adderall for the first time to paint back in like 2012. It was the most surreal experience. I was working on painting a landscape (i suck at landscapes) in greyscale and took it, a very large dose of the kind with the orange beeds inside. I crushed it up and downed most of it, snorted a small line or two. I'm not 100% sure but I think it was around 70mg. Anyway, resume painting and get in the fucking ZONE. I have literally no memory of anything past the 1 hour mark of taking it. Suddenly I realize my eyes hurt from staring at my screen from 2 inches away so I stand up and walk around my house. The clock says it's an hour earlier than when I started working and i'm like "what the fuck".

It was the next day. I look at my landscape and instead I have a painting of a dragon, crude in some areas and better than i've ever painted before in others. My vision was so fucked from the monitor that I thought i'd have permanently lost around 50% of my eyesight. It came back a few hours later.

Shit was weird. I still do it sometimes, but smaller doses so I don't do that shit again.

I don't understand the exact reason for it, but sometimes transferring to another hard drive or external disk causes the files to be copied rather than moved.
In this case, the creation date for the new files is changed. Not great when transferring files from an old to a new computer.

I'm going to handle the backlog of account deletion requests and small streak incidentals that I have been emailed about.

That is usually happening when you drag rather than Ctrl+X, thou ive seen some other bizzare scenarios. When you drag to a physically seperate drive windows will often assume the worst in case there's a disconnection in the middle and so holds the files temporarily in the same drive and instead does a copy action, which is in essence a new file.

You're rigth that in those kind of scenarios where you just PCs alot, not being careful can lose that data. Thats why I use Cloud storage for those kind of scenarios. Its not super important information to begin with as I can easily recollect the general timeframe I drew something in.

I havent drawn much the last two days (less than two hours each) but my hand still feels really tired. Like the muscles are tired and need rest. I feel like a waste of a human being when i dont draw for at least 4 hours a day though. I already taken lots of days off drawing this year.
