I'd suggest you to use cell shaded hard shadows until you get a better understanding of how soft vs hard shadows work.
Cast shadows produce a hard transition, form shadows/self shadows produce a soft gradual transition.
With your stuff everything is soft and it's simply wrong.

It is better than you make it out Anon.You do need to refine your anatomy but I would like to take a moment about your color choices.

The entire image is way way too bright. You picked quite saturated and bright colors for the skin and the hair and very dark ones for the clothes.

Why is this bad? To convey shape and form one needs to use a wide variety of colors in relation to each other. It makes it very hard to add shading and lighting to the picture because it is already on the extremes of all the color selections that are possible. Which makes any even slighty dark colors instantly pop out way too much and you cannot add highlights either because they remain invisible. It even shows on how hard you found to shade the skin, the shading is weak and barely noticeable.

When picking your base colors consider picking some that are closer to the center of the color map instead of the corners that way you leave yourself enough space to move around. and limit the cases like pure white and pure black to small areas like highlights or lineart. Same goes for the over saturated colors.

A good rule of thumb for beginners is to use a curve on the color map when adding shading and lighting to something.

If you haven't watched Blender Guru's "Understanding color" video yet I highly encourage that you do. It is highly informative and short to cover the basics for a normally huge subject that is coloring, also includes what I said.

Mate you have got good linearts but please understand that the lineart is just as much part of your image as everything else. At its core the lineart is signifies a hard sharp edge between two very distinct values/colors, meaning you can use lineart can be used as an extremely sharp shadow like it is done in comic books. You can make your lineart thicker at places of shadow and thinner at highlights maybe even erase it at points. OR you can just create separate layer with a mask and add color to the linearts to make them pop out less. And please turn up your stabilizer a bit the wrinkly lines with the full black color stand out a lot and disturb the picture.

Then think of the actual surface of the body's area and use more mid tones to show that there is volume there, the light is positively blinding at certain places. Use hints of highlight spot to draw the attention to place you want to show like the tongue.

Also look at what surface is reflective so that you can add those shiny spots, like the hair is very much a reflective area, wet skin like lips and tongue also. The eyeball is also glassy reflective area, use these to your advantage.

Yes, I know it is a hassle to do all the, fingers, toes, hairs, teeth etc but that is what will make your artwork better and also give you practice.

I just love when female bodies interact passionately. It's probably mostly an aesthetics thing. These are really good but they are a bit off from anime here's somethings that could help
a) Shade the face more. the opposite of what you said is true. there's barely any show of the actual planes of the face, it almost makes it look like a board.
b) take time and study the anatomy and landmarks of anime. your work is stylized and has features seen in anime, but misses some key features that make it anime. You can look up on sketchfab 3d anime faces and put them on matcap or wireframe to study how they actually wrap around.
3) your bodies are fine, there are things here and there but the only way to get better at anatomical subtleties is practice. I really like the expression in the first one's pose and the foreshortening in the second one.
4)Your shading overall needs to be more grounded, You are putting shadows where they shouldn't be just to have something and it throws things off. and example is the shadows arouen the edges of some of the first's limbs and some of the lighting on the second's tits.

The second one is the same thing. The cheek was purtruding too much for that position and the nose was in the wrong place I flipped the image so it could be seen more clearly.
(one last thing I forget about the first one is that it's important t think of them as floating in the sky and draw them appropriately to give your sky real depth.)

It's gonna suck, but sit down and draw a page full of hands and a page of feet. Look up pics from different angles and types of hands/feet and just practice drawing them individually until you're comfortable.

The main issue I see with it is the anatomy on the legs. They're very thin and the gap between them is a little unrealistic. The torso and shoulders are probably the stronger part of the drawing.

It's pretty good for your first attempt though, I'd definitely keep trying!! Reference pics are your friend.

As for the nips they are rarely ever perfectly round, even when you see them straight on. Remember that the center protrudes out so the top edge of it wont be in the center unless looking dead on. A good way to help visualize how they would look in perspective is to think of them as contact lenses with a tiny cylinder on top.

Ellipses in perspective is the key for nipples, if you can't imagine them you'll be guessing until you get something that looks passable.

Tits look fake because they have no indication of weight, just round objects jutting out of the chest. Too high as well, by default you should be sure to give room to pectoral flesh, when you learn to manipulate anatomy for stylization you can get away with this.

Value makes it look good ye sand value should be the thing you practice the most to learn form but grayscale value alone it is not completely enough for coloring. Your muddy results are appropriate result in digital art.

For color the highest saturation should be in the midtones (which is the middle uppper way pf the color scale) upper way of the color scale, the lightest area still loose saturation as you go lighter the light's color (and white) becomes the dominant one. White will start to dominate every color value as you go brighter and brighter no matter what color is your light

Same goes for dark after you go darker than the midtones the shadows will start to loose its saturation quickly and becomes desaturated as well, dark becomes desaturated too.

Painters often use that the slide the hue slightly towards colder colors when painting shadow and slighting towards warmer/brighter colors when painting lights to make it more natural looking ( as I see you did on >>3799147 as well) but this is not the absolute rule there are man factors that govern that however it is a good rule of thumb.

Based on your picture I would say that the main thing you are missing is not being brave enough to pick darker colors. Your picture in general, especially the background is super bright, it is almost blinding to the viewer so and thus it makes it hard to pick a darker color that doesn't pop out way too much. The same thing happens when one tries to paint with a pure white background and tries to eyeball the colors. You are trying to make the picture work while using only a small fraction of the entire color spectrum that is available to you.

Do not worry tough Anon this is common issue that newcomers face, and the solution is straightforward.

I would start by choosing a color that is more of a midtone, way less saturated and has less value, compared to the bright blue you had. This is way easier on the eyes and instantly makes the character pop out well compared to the environment and it "highlights" (pun my have been intended) how bright colored she is.

I choose a green because that is a complementary to the pink/red the character has but that doesn't really matter that much..
