I kind of really like obvious photobash/3D for MTG cards, it really isn't jarring when it's on a small card and it kind of makes the card stand out more.

Brad Rigney's and Deharme's MTG cards are a great example of that.

So therefore less "human" and less appealing in a way? Would this mean that if you use certain crazy limitations for digital, or say try to replicate the ones in traiditonal painting or inking or whatever, you'd get a more interesting result?

I was also thinking that the fact you can render for hours more easily in digital would take people off the basic creative process itself sonner (less work in ideas themselves)

And another thing I just thought about is, in MtG at least, it seems that less flashy, comick-y. And probably less appealing to me cause I don't really vibrate for "semi-realistic" stuff usually.

That's generally true for most products D&D art only got better in the 90's with digital it just gets easier to add backgrounds and textures you probably couldn't do in trad and of course you can work huge now and just scale it down. Seriously, there are all of these designs but for what, exactly? No one reads the god damn books, no one knows the lore. Even if they did, how many "SUPER MAJESTIC MYTHIC EXTREMELY LARGE SUPER COOL" monsters can fill the same exact world? They all just start to blend together.

I read somewhere a bunch of artists are boycotting 2019 magic gp because they stopped getting free flights and meals, instead of being invited as guests theyre now vendors who must pay for their flight etc if theyre going to sell original arts (they charge 5g for some originals) for mtg. Way to kill the market dumb asses.This is what annoys me about mtg artists, they're spoiled and pretencious dick heads.

Hows that killing the market? how many of these artists are still doing trad where there's still is an original and how many of these do they have to sell? if you sold 10 at 5 grand that's about a fulltime wage at a decent job. What happens when you don sell 10. WOTC is just reducing cost they know artist will do the work anyway cause they want it for their portfolio and potential income without royalties the amount they are paying for a piece is low. Company that big can take your art and sell it in a hundred countries as soon as you have finished uploading the image.
