I love animation but I've seriously never been impressed with any of these student animations. For the money spent and "prestige", it's just not impressive. You can achieve this level at home on your own time. And why even have an animation department? America doesn't animate in 2D. They're just gonna be writers and story boarders for koreans.

Well basically, after I flunked out of art school twice my mom told me I had to get a real job or she'd kick me out of the house. So I applied for the military, Air Force primarily because I heard Aviators are treated like actual humans. Somehow I did well enough on the written exam, the medical testing and the interview that I got first pick on whatever roles I applied for despite having zero worthwhile experience on my resume. I picked Aviation Tech, and now they've got me doing maintenance for a fighter squadron. They're giving me way too much money and I keep spending it irresponsibly by buying skimpy anime girl figures online.

Money's good, my coworkers are great (lot of nerds in AF, we have anime nostalgia nights on fridays), my career is looking solid, I never have to worry about whether I'll be able to put food on the table, but despite all that, every time I pass by the local comic shop I always wonder why I couldn't just muster up the discipline to turn my lifelong hobby into an actual job, Or maybe I just lied to myself and I only liked drawing because it made me feel unique.

STEM is a big fuckin meme.

Computer Science is the only one that matters. Completely average developers with 5 years experience are making 6 figures. People at FAANG companies are making $250k/yr on AVERAGE. There's no other field you can make that kind of money and have the same level of job flexibility.

Business also pays well if you can weasel your way into a good company where the boomers in front of you are retiring soon. You just assume their positions and salaries and watch your checking account/401k/stock all boom just like your bosses were.

Art degrees, doctor degrees, lawyer degrees... you're holding the bag after those. Time AND money commitment where you become so financially cucked you become a hopeless debt void for some company to continuously send mail to demanding their cut.
