What sai brushes or textures do you use? Any recommendations? Any general tips?

I sketch and do the lines with the pencil. I lay the basic colours with the bucket tool since I have very clean Lineart. I do the rest with the brush. Maybe I should try using markers.

I don't use any custom brushes, just ones that are already installed with the program.

Bind the hotkey to switch transparency. It turns any brush you're currently using into eraser. Extremely useful and time saving.
Options - hotkeys - color - switch to transparency

Sai is so cheap, if you can't make ~$40 off commissions to buy it you're ngmi desu

Or just switch this on, so you can toggle between your eraser and whatever brush you're drawing with, with just one hotkey.
That way if you're sketching with a light brush, your eraser will still be hard and won't take forever to fully erase.

can you do this in PS as well?

I bought it once I found out it was a single japanese guy who runs the whole show as well as being really responsive to emails for suggestions and complaints

I bought it, because I wanted to try sai2. It was worth it. Also this >>3777871

somehow this feature didn't stick with me.

>>3776117
no idea, as far as I know - you can't. I stopped using PS for painting long ago though, maybe they added this already. It took them about 10 years to add the color triangle/wheel.

Bought it. As some other anon said, I did it mostly because Komatsu is a one-man team. Makes me glad to see others actually paid. It's a bit sad since I've seen several artists who make more than enough through commissions proudly torrent the program and encourage others to torrent it. They're also the same people who have a breakdown if anyone steals their shit

I don't know if this will be of any help for anybody but it took me years to find a brush I like and this is what I've come up with

Thanks anon.

I do recall finding one on deviantart. I think I wrote "sai rough brush" or "sai sketch brush" and found a rougher version of that, but it can easily be adjusted. If you don't find a good one, just write "sai brushes" and you'll find something familiar.

Ain't it bound by default? Using - as the bind for this for awhile, don't ever remember actually binding the key.

Have had the butt of my pen set as the hard eraser for this, so I have two options of erasing if need be.
