How many hours a day do you typically spend doing art?

https://www.strawpoll.me/17207730

What you count as doing art is up to you, try not to lie to yourself though, this thread is for srs discussion and hopefully improving.

I've never been much of a grinder but I can no longer stand how the day seems to slip away so damn fast and I only get a couple of hours in, but pros and even twitch artists consistently put in double digits.

General discussion of how to improve your stamina, manage schedules, and use time more wisely would be great too.

Something that helps me is doing an hour or so in the morning. That alone doesn't add much, but it gets my head in the right place and also takes off the pressure to start already, and stops me beating myself up for time passing and haven't drawn anything yet.
So an hour in the morning usually adds another 2 or 3 in the evening.

Like 8 hours a day. But my wrist feels like shit.

how is someone able to draw 10+ hours total every day (not including breaks) without fucking up your hands and wrists?

>> No.3761945

when i neeted it was a 4-6 hours a day but i had no internet so no reinforcement to my studies and i plateau'd hard(the rest of the day was either games or rune study), now im doing about 2 hours with full time job

I think it's possible with experience and a major factor is how hard you press on the stylus and the ergonomics of your set up and stuff. The harder you have to press to get the results you want the more strain you're putting on your wrists and hands.

4 hours every day is the minimum if you have any aspirations of making it. Anything less is just a waste of time.

This applies to all skills, not just art.

I can usually work in 30-minute stretches without distracting myself. I'm trying to extend that. I guess in total work time, I spend 3-5 hours drawing and painting. After that I just get tired mentally.

I'm a neet

i usually spend about 3 hours in the morning doing studies and reading books and ... going here
and in the afternoons/evenings I usually spend 4-5 hours working on shitty illustrations

but I'll make it, because I work hard. And I'm a neet.

Stretches and, well, breaks in in-between. You can easily fuck up your wrist by not doing those things.

Or you just go ahead and give no shit.

Currently most days none, if I'm stoned I'll sketch or model 2 to 3 hours. If sober maybe 1 hour. Except in October. I go all out for Halloween maybe 5 hours a day on my mask last year. People want to call it racist, whatever it's just a mcdonalds commercial but I had a great time making that. Many hours went into it.

Work full time can get in 1-2 hours a night. Normally just try for all nighters on the weekend if I want something done.

Full time sucks for getting in decent time drawing, 1-2 a night is pretty good all things considered.

10 hours if I'm not working. At least 4 a day. Every now and then I take a day off maybe a couple times a month.

Few hours a week. I draw a thing and then don't draw for 5-7 days.

>> No.3765113

Try getting regular, like have some time in the day where every day you do even just 20minutes of drawing. I think routine even if it's small, will help and make it less of a big deal.

Not more than 3 hours, but everyday without a skip. People who overdo it will end up drawing shit doodles for 10 hours and then feeling blocked for a week at least. It's idiotic

Right now? 10 minutes or less, usually none.

Been meaning to get back to it, but I don't know how since I suck at still life drawings and probably may never get the hang of it regardless of hours spent.

>> No.3769111

>>3768269
Try even just doodling for like 15 minutes a day, drawing from imagination. Even if you're at total /beg/ level I think that's a good exercise to keep doing, otherwise you can get so bogged down in studies that you forget what you would like to draw if you did have the skills.

Pretty good amount of votes so far, it looks like if you can do more than 3 hours a day you do more than 75% of /ic/.
