Just pick something and commit to it. I saw Marc ecko give a speech once about his brand. He said everyone told him it was stupid to use a rhino as his logo. Your name is echo you should use a bat or a dolphin or something. He said no, he had a vision. He knew the rhino would give him brand recognition. He didn't care if it was logical. I think he was onto something. Don't over think it. Just make it easy to remember and spell and maybe that doesn't rhyme with an easy way to insult to. The band muse picked their name because they can use a larger don't in posters since it's only 4 letters. Sometimes it really is that simple.

My real name is full of vowels and it sounds lame and pathetic. All the handles I used were shit, I just can't come up with a nice handle.

people have malignant personality disorders that compel them to want to hurt others to feel better about themselves. Using legal names creates more opportunities for that to happen.

Couldn't get into any art shows with my actual name (which is obviously non-white) so I picked a white sounding name and sent in the same work. Got into 4 shows the first year I did that.

Now that my CV is padded with shows I'm back to using my birth name (it also helps having a couple grants under my belt).
