Anyways, I'd recommend searching for like two really great books that sum up to 300$ and presenting it to them together, like in a shopping cart in a site so that they just see "one purchase that cost 300$" and they won't make you choose between both

Not being an ass, you should buy it if you want it. I got it recently because of the reason you said and there being no pdf I could find. No doubt it was groundbreaking and influential, the prose and images are very well thought out, but we have better resources now. There are a few flaws in that it is purely a book about color. A challenge of scanning it would require editorializing the order of the book because the first half is text and the back half is the color plates which are somewhat necessary to understand what's being referenced. The book is not a painting book: the reader is supposed to buy all the colors of construction paper recommended in order to do the exercises. A lot of the plates are more like optical illusions too.

David Hornung's Color is my favorite color book and you can find it here. It builds on the shoulders of Albers but in a much more practical way. It brings in examples from real life as opposed to mostly abstract designs and is a book for painters. It's written by a RISD teacher who would teach it with gouache. It teaches very useful terminology and objective thought process about color. If you are intensive and patient about going through the exercises slowly you will learn an incredible amount about color, so much that you'll be annoyed hearing most other people talk about color. You don't have to use gouache, digitally you can use the CMYK color picker and almost mix colors subtractively instead of additively. There's a chapter at the end that shows how.

So in summary, Albers book is great to thumb through to look at the plates and lessons or read a lesson a day. But now we have better and more modern resources to use. I liked Hornung's book from the pdf so much that I bought it myself and it's a very high quality book that I've gone through again. The book is probably too intensive for most people which is why I don't see it recommended as much. It encourages a lot of studies and time spent on each chapter.

I'm studying with it right now. It's not that far from the Ctrl Paint still life/color course. The book is about laying a basic statement of the still life, then painting over that with sometimes a certain amount of spots to add detail. It really needs you to set up some degree of the still lifes that it goes through in the book. This includes construction paper in a box to trick your eye into thinking something like a metal pan is not actually silver or gold when you paint it but the reflections of the light around it. Same with a paper bag not actually being brown when the wall behind it might be reflecting green.

These are some lectures given by Krenz in Shanghai.

The first part is an one hour long video fully subtitled and divided into perspective, proportion, and structure.

Part 2 continues the concepts of part 1 and talks about shapes and design as well as FAQs with the students.

In Part 3 he shows show you how he plans the composition and divide the general shapes and determine the angles of each object.

Later on the video shows him adding colors layer by layer until all the colors are laid. This video follow his train of thoughts as he plan out lines of action, focal points, key colors, and many other components to paintings.

Finally, a three part FAQs with the local students as they ask relevant questions to the current painting and Krenz explains the techniques in details.

This video goes in-depth with Krenz's thought process, layout, color composition, as well as showing his various attempt at drafting the same piece.

Krenz provides a step by step explanation of his choice of colors,which type of lights were chosen and much more.

It is easy to search in in this app and just download the book you want and start flipping through the pages. That is how I use this collection.
For the large sized books I bought Goodreader for the ipad. This app can handle large pdfs much better. The epub books can be opened on the ibook app.
