While you may be correct, some of us started here and never actually left this place. We were born from /ic/, molded by the faggotry and it showed us that there are no greener pastures on "the other side". However there are a few exceptions such as that one guy who recently left to start a Patreon and he is slowly but surely making it which tells you there's hope yet.

Hmm frankly i only come here on a blue moon to post some stuff for some funny comments or whatever so im no expert on this place.

That said this place is nothing special, most groups with artist have a lot of people that would fit what u described.

End of the day, unless you have something else going for ya there is no point in quitting. Make sure u have a fun w it and u dont lose ur mind w it.

Well it's not going very well desu. I earn basic survival money from being a storyboard artist, but nobody hires me for illustration anymore and I'm really sad because of it. Today I've sent my 100th job application, 80% of my inquiries were unanswered, 20% asked for rates and only 1 commissioned me but has been delaying the payment (as always). I really regret not having any other options besides art. I devoted my whole life to something I'm still pretty mediocre at. I'm glad that there's still /ic/ to get me going, maybe something good will happen in the future... I'm just gonna keep on grinding til it does, I mean what other choices do I have.

i came back after a long hiatus(as in social media wasn't big) to now, and i felt that there's so much competition, so many starving artises, so much art nowadays that everything gets drowned into a sea of sameness. i got depressed for a while, how am i to stand out? but i still posted some of my art, and the most satisfying comments i got were on how unique it was. i haven't made it, and honestly, i don't even know what making it really is anymore, but it's an adventure and i'm still interested on where my drawings are gonna take me.

Pretty much this. Im in the same boat. I feel like ive reached a level of skill to which quitting would be pointless,but at the same time ive stopped trying to get noticed. There are so many amazing artists now adays with the internet and younger than I. Its gotten to the point to where id rather make a few people happy or inspired than thousands of normies.

exactly,my art is just for the people that look for it. i'm gonna only make fanart for the things i really really enjoy, and the beautiful thing about the internet is that there's always going to be someone else that enjoys that thing too.
i don't care about younger people being better than me anymore, i honed my career in something else while they practised, so of course they will be better. and actually following younger people has helped my mind keep fresh!
