Meanwhile your peers will always share your views and give you good input. That's why input from laymans is usually less valuable than people that are also specialist on an industry.

Only partially. Management shouldn't micromanage, but they're the ones who have the overall idea in mind and are sometimes somewhat technical as well. You need somebody to push the overall direction of a project and make sure everyones on the same page and not wasting time. Sure theres bad management, but good management makes life go smoother for everyone involved. A good manager eases the burden for everyone involved and allows them to focus on just doing work.

Peers as well often have a habit of injecting their own opinions and tastes into things. They might be able to help with a technical problem, but at the same time they might try to fix things that dont need fixing because it's how they would of done it. And that can lead to even bigger issues if you let it happen.

Sometimes peers are bigger shits than your manager.

I guess I shouldn't have generalized but I was answering based on OP experience, which is that of a bad manager and trying to tell them, since you have had repeated events of them going back on their views and they just make you waste your time you should know by now to avoid them or not take them seriously.
And yes, you need good management because of what you say.

I haven't had that much experience of peers doing that but I can see it happen, I would label it as peers who don't know boundaries though. If someone ask me an opinion about a piece they are doing I will try to separate my personal view comments from what can be objectively seen wrong for the purpose of the piece. Sometimes it can be a tough call so I'll try to convey that also, you temper your opinions and try put yourself in their shoes the best that you can.

I guess we can agree there's a certain type of personality that usually fucks up with the rest of coworkers performance and raises frustrations.
