1. comic fans dont know shit about art even if they think they do
2. i feel people here probably know more stuff because of their interest in art specifically
i wanted to see what everyones favourite comic artists, books etc are on here. im gonna post some stuff i like as well, id love to find more to check out.

Americans can't draw for shit. Only western comic artist I kinda like was Moebius.
He knew how to draw aesthetically pleasing. His style reminds me a bit of Katsuhiro Otomo.

German Comic "Das Upgrade" its a mixture of east german "mosaik" nostalgia and surrealism.
Also the Tpbs have pretty good Graphic Design in them.

I think that's always the hardest part. Creating a whole story takes a lot of creativity.
You could just go from page to page, without planning much ahead to make it easier, but being good at story telling is really a lot different than painting pictures. It's a whole different artform and takes a lot of practice too.

More sequential pages. And not entirely true, a lot of artists can 'draw a good picture' but they can't draw 22pgs of a comic in 5-6 weeks. That's what filters out the illustrators from the storytellers

That's because covers are generally a draw in of themselves, hence why they spend big money on guys like Cho or Hughes instead of getting the interiors guy (who often isn't good enough at covers or high profile enough to sell it)

Mangaka only have to draw chapter art and occasionally tankobon covers

Anon, don’t call me ignorant when your logic is just as dumb. I have been “drawn into” series with decent covers only to be disappointed, like X-Factor Investigations and Fables. Unless a series has stellar writing it’s always a letdown to find mediocre art inside a book disguised with a flashy cover. I enjoy the consistency of manga and seeing how artists improve or degrade over the course of their serializations.

They got you to pick the book up off the shelf, that's half the battle.
You should follow more creator-owned books if you want art consistency like you describe, you're not gonna get that in a Marvel book where they put out 90+ titles a month and have fill-ins and rotating artists as a default

Manga is more consistent only because everyone has assistants and their worksystem is borderline abusive. The European model of letting creators do a 40-60pg hardcover album is the only ideal comics publishing format IMO, but even that pays poorly so nothing is ideal
