I don't like art. I like guns.
I don't think it's possible to have some sort of emotional reaction to a piece of art or nothin.
this art makes me feel stuff though. apparently it's made by some guy named Gustave Doré. more art like this please.

Hey I love this one too.
This is a painting from the Romantic era if I'm not mistaken. Look it up on Google and you'll get more paintings like this, some will inspire you too hopefully.

I gochu boo. I won't tell anybody.

Art is kind of complicated to define. I think we can all agree that art is some sort of creation made with the intent to invoke an emotion, aesthetic purposes or it is created for its own sake. Whatever the intent the artist has, the audience's response defines the art's place in the world, from Baroque masterpieces to furry porn.

What do you feel when you look at the Inferno piece? Is it just a sense of appreciation for its beauty? Or is it an appreciation for the story being told?

I don't understand the relevance of pointing out that you like guns. It's like saying I don't like country music, I like drinking kool aid. Guns and art specifically painting are two completely different things that don't have anything to do with each other.

>> No.3673020

>>3673005
both I guess
guns are beautiful but they don't make me feel things.
the Roman man scares me but I can tell he's a good person I think. he's like a friend even though you don't drink with him. he knows stuff and that's good cause I don't know stuff. the people in the ground are bad people I think. and I think they did bad stuff but i feel bad for them cause I don't think they knew the consequences when they did bad stuff. and I think the Roman man knows they didn't but he don't care. he looks like he cares kinda about the other guy. cause he don't know either until now but now he knows not to be bad and that scares me. the other guy makes me feel stuff but I don't like it it makes me really sad.

it's scary to be alone and no way to go home. it's scary cause you ain't got to options or choice but to sit there. but it's more scary that there's no tree there to hang yourself so you don't even got the choice on how to die. I dont like it.

tdlr it's a 14th century poem where Dante (the Roman guy) is led through the Nine Circles of Hell by the poet Virgil (the guy in red). As they descend toward the center of Hell where the devil lives, they see each circle is reserved for certain degrees of evil acts with corresponding punishments. What's being depicted is the Ninth Circle where the treacherous are damned.

If you're interested in learning about the poem, I highly recommend listening to an introductory lecture. The poem was written 7 centuries ago, you will not be able to understand shit and nearly everything will fly over your head otherwise.
The good news is, there's a really, really interesting and well-done lecture in a torrent called "The Teaching Company (my favorites)" on thepiratebay. I can’t recommend it enough. The folder inside was called "Dante's Divine Comedy" or something.
Here's the highest quality scans you can find on the internet of Doré's gravures for the poem:

To be fair a lot of american rednecks that I know (at least the one who actually work on a farm or shop) seem to appreciate the skill and work that goes into the fine arts. They are turned off by the percieved degeneracy of the modern art scene, but appriciate the classics, and even some surrealism.

Probably comes from all the idiots calling them stupid for living the way they want to. Shit I was in a pole barn two weeks ago talking about crosshatching with a farmer and his two sons.
