that's a pretty good and accurate thing actually, OP. currently taking classes, but the next step i think'd be seeking out private mentorships from people who have worked at studios i wanna shoot for

you won't get a mentorship. people willing to do this become teachers and get paid for it. unless you know a good artist personally and they like you or you already show talent, no one will bother. you have to pay and it will be shit.
