Recently I figured that drawing is now a bigger part of my life than I often admit and that means that I must make room and claim my time for it. It's not easy but it's necessary if I want drawing to stay fun and be worthwhile.

I just re-read the goblin slayer challenge and I'm a bit confused.
Do I need to draw the specific 'goblin slayer' character in the reference? Because at first I thought this was open for interpretation just like how you are free to draw goblins however you like.

Oh shit, thanks dude. I feel everything looks muddy, man. Like I can't really control the edges and show lights and shadows clearly without blurring everything. I tend to be very messy when I draw and paint so trying to keep things clean and forcing myself to learn brush economy is something I'm aiming for, and watercolours are a bit less forgiving.

Nile has improved the most but he isn't in dad. Bunnyburger has had very noticeable improvement but that is to be expected in complete beginners who don't give up. Eventually they will hit that long hill of tough gains.

I have also noticed manadabes improved. Same comments that I gave bunny. Coinhero with a very slight improvement.

But everyone else either regressed or no improvement at all. Or they do something right one week and then stop doing it to fall back on comfort zoning.

I forget who else has been around since the start, but a bunch of people have dropped LAS/DAD since they're busy making money off art. Mostly freelance but I know a few who went the studio route too. I don't think it's to do with the site or anything that determines if you "make it", it's down to the individual, how hard they work and how well they network and so on. Also target areas; you could improve a ton and still not be good enough for concept art or illustration gigs, or improve marginally but be good enough for graphic design, porn, storyboarding etc.

Nice, I'd just say that if you're using something dark like pen I'd try to find a way to express dark/light shapes better rather than just outlining the form. Adding more value and contrasting shapes can make a more interesting piece while also helping to show form.

your recent stuff is showing promise, I know you're a fan of hampton but it seems like you go right into anatomy and lose the gesture in the process. try to follow his process more closely, there's a reason why the first chapters of the book address the three major masses, how they interact, how they balance and how the spine influences all of that while anatomy is closer to the end. i'm rambling at this point but your art reminds me a little of myself, i don't know you or what is your motivation with drawing whether it's something you want to pursue seriously or for fun but regardless you got to experiment with different methods and concepts to break the mold you're currently in otherwise you're going to keep creating the same figures again and again

other than that, just general gesture, shapes, and appealing lines. look at artwork you find appealing and try to understand why it's appealing. steal shapes from better artists for use in your own repertoire. you have a basic understanding of perspective but you can always deepen that. draw more and try to emulate the quality of lines and shapes from art you find appealing

You just need to know where to cut people off, anon. It's like a domino, territories need to be connected to stay valid. So if you cut someone's territory in half they only get to keep the half with the more territory. Not that guy, and I didn't think his reaction was warranted... but, now that I know your submission was supposed to be gesture studies there's a lot to say: You are not getting the gestures at all, you're still focusing too much on contours. First, understand what type of line you should be putting on paper, you should be trying to get the movement of the body, not the shapes of muscles, clothes or equipment.
The models you chose are pretty bad for this kind of exercise, especially for beginners. Sure, they are doing fun dynamic poses, but the baggy clothes make it hard to read them properly.

Also, if you're doing gestures you should be doing way more than two a day, should be more like one every 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
