One of the most important things I've learnt while learning is being competent.

Second this
Make sure you are thinking and asking questions throughout the process. Learning to draw is about problem solving. If something has you stuck, research it and apply what you've learned through more drawing.

Don't "Just study" by only looking shit up, and don't "Just draw" without knowing how to overcome the hurdle you're up against. Put the two together and be conscientious of that. The moment you start scribbling away without thought or searching online for random advice is the moment you've fucked up.

there's like 5 threads active in a day. So no. There probably isn't. If the place wasn't full of gatekeeping safespace pussies that are too escared to post work I wouldn't be so noticeable would I?

No, if you didn't post so much with your paintings, essentially acting as a namefag, you wouldn't be so noticeable.

Go from light to dark first. Depending on the pressure that’s how dark it gets. Pratice going from darkest to lightest and the reverse.
Use your own drawing as a ruler but that’s something you’ll get when you keep practicing. Also a little edit on the computer is nice. Pic I drew using just a bic black pen and a red one (the blue might be from the scanning). Also the leg was edited to be a little longer (thanks /r) I was afraid I didn’t have room on the bottom for the legs.

Practice deliberately not casually.

Target your problems and then work on it.

Uninstall/put away all of your games. Use them as a reward system. You draw every day during the week, you play for a bit on the weekend.

This will sound sad because it is, but I was literally addicted to my desktop/the internet. One day I had enough and disconnected my entire setup and put it away. I’ve been drawing more than I ever have since then. It’s nice to be free. (Posting from tablet)
