I remember when I used to make everything washed out too. Don't be afraid of a little color. Hopefully someday you'll realize that saturated colors can be a wonderful thing, and they're nothing to shy away from.

The saturated colors fit the fantasy forest scene very well, and to call it a "mess of a color scheme" is laughable - it's actually an incredibly simple color scheme. To suggest that >>3632563 has both better values (it doesn't) and is NOT a mess of a color scheme (it is) is just plain wrong

thats not what i did lol. there was no clear distinction between the middleground, only the foreground and background. the middleground was a coagulated mess of not color but values.
saturation is fine, its just your values are not.

It's likely because the branches unrealistically come perfectly out of opposite sides of the tree. Another way to put it is that there are no branches coming towards or away from the viewer which is unnatrual, and instead are conveniently perfectly branching out from the sides of the tree.

It's a common pitfall I often see when people draw branches - that they're afraid to push the branches forwards and backwards in 3D space and instead flatten the tree with 2D branches
