I've ordered them from amazon JP and it's definitely easier and they don't absolutely ruin your shit.

I used to work for that shithole of a company and the reason it takes fucking forever is because when you order it on USA amazon you have to wait for it to go from JP->USA and then it gets sent to a fulfillment center where underpaid "warehouse associates" have to stow pick and pack your order.

By the way, the people stowing it? We were pressured to, literally what my boss told me, "Just shove things in the bins with reckless abandon. As long as it's fast and it doesn't fall out it's good. Don't be so careful with the items they'll replace it if a customer complains"

I saw so many ruined art books sliced with box cutters, shoved into a bin and crushing the binding/paper, mold in bins (they just put a sticker on it they dont even clear it out or clean it), OPEN shampoo bottles next to books without a bag on them, food and sex toys next to weed killer... ugh

At least with JP they don't go into the hands of USA amazon warehouse its usually shipped through customs to you, and I've never gotten a fucked up book from them like I have from the amazon warehouses we have here.

I just use a normal Canon LiDE 220 and put the page on it, no cutting or anything. I just activate Clear Gutter Shadows and Remove Moire Patternsin the software to brighten up the middle and remove all the moire dots.
There are actual book scanners with no edge on one side but they cost 5-6 times as much as my scanner so it's not really worth it and the camera things always look kinda weird how the book is just lying there.

That's pretty much what step 5 is about, drawing a different angle than the ref image so your brain gets practice imagining the 3d form rather than drawing what it sees; think like symbol drawing to drawing what you are seeing, this is the next step from there, drawing what you *would* see if the subject was at a different angle. I'm not a great artist yet but I can say that it definitely helps.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way think up a 3d modeling software in your brain if that's what you're looking for.

If you're skeptical of its advice because its some shitty deviant art tutorial, KJG says this is basically what he does to practice drawing new subjects but he calls it repeated failure or something like that.

There's no .pdf I'm aware of but the book is relatively inexpensive.

i've read light for visual artists, which at the time solved my lighting placement problems and a lil bit of rendering help, but not so much how i, as a painter am trying to place color.
